    WGP Relic

WGP just teased their next design on FB. It is a design from the archives, unreleased...until now! Well in a little while, I guess they will be doing their pre-order thing again.

Also said limited and only one run of these, it looks pretty slick. They said more info soon, but it will be like the last ones I think with the choices of internals and such.

Behold, a rendering of, The Relic.

I like it. Curious to see how it looks IRL but definitely has the classic late 00s WGP vibe without being too busy. ICS? How does one go about adjusting velocity?

Should be good in a fade or solid - might lose the detail in a splash.

Yeah they just responded to a comment over there that it is ICS and EVO length bolt. No more info yet.

I'm kind of confused by multiple things here

          1) the cocker craze is kind of dying. If they did this 5 years ago they would be able to sell these for more

          2) why limited to 1 run? Forced scarcity? If the people want it keep pumping them out, it's a business not an art installation.

          3) what has wgp done for the last 20 years to actually stay in business?

The brand/business was sold to Gene from autocockerparts.

-I think you may be on to something here, Scooby.

There simply isn't a market for a constant, or even sizeable, production run.

Drcemento, Lt. head-shot, William the Third I hope no offense was taken! There's no lack of quality to the craftsmanship. Thanks for the link to the posts about it!!

The things that threw me off:
              1. I can't see any separation of the back block from the rest of the body (I even zoomed in to try and find it). Either incredible precision or, there was something else going on, because I don't think it's possible to have a sniper/autococker without a back block. It turned out to be precision. Great work.
              2. The finish of the body, the vert regulator/ASA mount and, the bottom line ASA, all look to be made of some kind of glass filled plastic, and I thought nobody would do that. I'm not sure what that material/finish is and it's interesting.
              3. The milling pattern. I like it and, it struck me as if AI was asked to make a block look like a relic, without even separating the back block and slapping a brass knob on the back. Please don't take this as criticism! It looks good.

uv_halo I took no offense, and I doubt the others did either. It's an aluminum body milled and painted to give the illusion/texture of being made out of stone.

              uv_halo - No offense taken!

1 - Yes I milled the back block in the style of the old P-block autocockers, and when when milling the sides I pushed the block and main body together to try and get as tight as possible. Here it is pre-milling https://flic.kr/p/2jYU1e5 https://flic.kr/p/2jYQgDP
2 - The whole body was first hit with an acid etch primer that is used for aircraft bodies. Then it was a couple layers of black acrylic "washed" over the body, so give it the weathered look. I used some sponges to try and look more like stone, and onnce you add enough layers it starts to look good. Everything with the stone color is metal!
3 - Yeah I can see where you'd get that idea. Again, no offense taken, I appreciate the kind words. I have another KPCS body blank and all this talk of the old project is giving me ideas...

The other bodies that the released were limited runs and you can still buy them. Kind of answers 1 and 2.

My problem with all of these bodies is the detent. There are much cleaner looking ways to have a detent than having it stick out of the side of the body.

I get that they don't want to be constantly making these but why say 1 run only? If the first 500 get snatched up overnight why not just run another 500? Keep doing it in batches until the sales start slowing down then move on to the next body

It is much cheaper to do a single run than it is to do multiple runs. setup, stock prep, tooling, etc. all plays into that. I would expect the actual production of these to be sub 200 and really less than that. If they actually wanted these to sell out i would expect them to be int he 50ish range. This is funky body that i don't think appeals to the large majority of cocker guys. Take a look at the f6 run, that was like 250 body kits that had a somewhat large following and even after they sold out people have been selling them off instead of building them.

Mozak is doing the bodies for WGP.

WGP is also run by the guy behind autocockerparts.com - it's basically the same as AGD, one dude keeping a company alive. They don't really have much in the way of manufacturing facilities.

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

WGP/Autocockerparts.com does have a cnc mill and lathe, though the majority of parts are being machined elsewhere.

Maybe should have kept it in the garage! Total snoozer from a bad era of cockers for me. That run of blocky sto’s they did recently though…. Tempting

It's cool to see, the obvious mix of karni and orracle with the added Angel LCD Butterknife on the lower tube. But I agree, a run of 500 is a bit ridiculous.

I wish them well and hope their sales predictions are accurate. I like having variety out there for makers you can build. Am I interested in this body? No, not my style, but as mentioned by others, there are some other bodies they are doing I do like.
