Pre-orders up for the Meteor "Ghost"

On the meteor site they now have deposits for 300 dollars and 300 when it comes out . https://meteor-paintball.com/shop/ .
According to them its a closed bolt spool valve with anti roll out.

Just came to post this. Not a terrible price point. Will be watching these. I did like my meteor pump and thought it was well made and who doesn’t want another mech?

Such a hard market to break into. Curious how it sells.

These are also forged then machined which is really interesting

The videos of them being stamped is pretty cool. Also like how they did something different with the grip frame/body mating than the typical two flat surfaces.

Maybe but it looks kind of like standard "45"s to me.

They do state its "straighter than a traditional 45 frame".

I'd like to shoot one out of curiosity but I'm not in love with the body design.

I've not kept up with the manufacturers lately. Pre-orders turn my stomach. Do these guys at least have a record of delivering on promises?

Meteor has consistently delivered in the past. They've done a lot of work on the cocker platform.

I very much dislike pre-orders of any kind. Track records mean nothing. Just make a good product, sell the good product. At the very least at least make it a discount but as is you're just paying for a spot in line which.. bleh

I pre ordered there pump marker early on and was supposed to get parts like a trigger plate, asa plugs, fittings ect a reg and some other bits they promised when they got them. I never received them but then again I never asked and I’m not on Facebook to ask. I bought a non built marker from them at a slightly discounted price and they didn’t keep track of what they sent who. Everything else I have purchased from them has been quality and complete. I wouldn’t do a pre order is all I’m saying. I don’t think you will have a problem getting a $600 “3M” in today’s economy.

I asked about getting more info on it (breakdown for maintenance, parts availability, did it take proprietary seals) on their FB post, and they told me there were shooting videos and asked me how familiar I was with closed bolt systems.

So imma wait this one out to see if/what they deliver.

TBH I'm tempted to order one and see what happens. How can I claim to be a long standing member of MCB and the wider paintball community if I've never been burned on a pre-order?

I pre-ordered one of their first generation body kits.... I like the mechanics behind the ghost. I did preorder but its also going to end up being a third string back up to most of my other mechs

Considering this is all aluminum from a brand with an absolutely stellar nearly 30 years long track record and it sells for $100-200 less than an inceptionized emek which still comes with a plastic lower half, I think this is a pretty killer deal as long as it works as well as they say it will.

I am a bit bummed that they didn't do anything ergonomic at all with that lower end though. no hump/curvature of the backstrap, and that foregrip while being replaceable looks... idk.

I'm still excited. I really hope they support the aftermarket somehow to where there are third party bodies and foregrips being machined for this, etc. Right now, it /looking/ a bit like a rental gun is kinda rough for $600 even if it does kind of make it a sweet sleeper in a lot of ways.

Still not preordering, though. I've never seen a preorder go off without a months-years long hitch. Aside from the DP FX. That was cool.

The wild part is it’s a closed bolt spoolie ? That sounds cool. Not sure if they did any rollout stuff like nova or if it is really into the bore autococker style.

IIRC the barrel has some kind of inner choke to prevent roll forwards for paint of varying size.

I have to imagine it's something reasonably doable if someone made a flexible plastic (TPU?) sort of 360 degree ring shaped version of the tippmann detent that just fit in the back of the barrel right in front of where the bolt's forward position is.

I took the gamble on a special anno. I dont love pre-orders, and I also understand the financial incentive to them in this economy in this niche of a market. They seem to have a well thought out refund plan if the project goes over, but im sure thats only worth the "paper" its written on. I owned their pump for a hot minuet so im not worried about the quality. I'm excitred to see whats produced.

Simon chimed in on FB that there are other companies who produce bodies like this, but dont mention it in their marketing. He touted it as good transparency.

It has to be a hell of a lot more cost effective versus cnc time for each body. Especially on the lower cost point options (shocker, gtek, dsr, etc). No I don’t know if all those are forged bodies but it wouldn’t surprise me. Also it’s just a cool process, beating a bullet into shape with a giant hammer.
