The end of an era, planet eclipse is discontinuing the LV2 and LV platform

On the planet eclipse facebook https://www.facebook.com/planeteclipsetv they are finishing up a two part stream where they are announcing a new loader collab with the DVR and the LV platform being discontinued. They are releasing some special edition of the LV2 at cup. This also tracks as many online stores are out of LV2s.

Wow, are they going to launch a new stack tube gun now? Or have spool based taken over completely?

From what i understand, the LV1.6 and 2 were a tougher financial decision from the get go. Interest and sales drive everything. It makes sense that they are not making them anymore.

I can tell you with certainty that I very rarely see poppets on the speedball field anymore.

Heck, I'm usually the only one with a poppet even on the Rec field. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone else carrying a stack tube poppet electro tbh.

I'd imagine that the entire sport isn't exactly burning up the proverbial airwaves these days, and recent economic issues haven't helped.

No surprise at all. A shame, because it's a sign of the whole industry's direction, but no surprise.

Not enough people want to tinker with their stuff, they want it to just work.

I had a 1.6 for a short time, it was cool but no need for an electronic marker. It's cool you can tune it a bunch of different ways.

PE saw players solving their planned obsolescence noids and knew the game was up lol

I love my LV2 but I understand the business reason behind the decision. I was also told by reputable sources that the Geo R5 was not a favorite amongst many players, often being exchanged for a CS3. It would seem PE is going back to being exclusively Gamma/OP/OP-R Core. In the current paintball market, it makes senses.

At one of the fields I play at there are lots of league players playing the occasional recball game and you'd be surprised at how little they know about the tech side of their gear. I think nowadays the average high-end user doesn't really care about settings customization.
"Aren't you getting too old for this??"
                      "Nope."

Curious what special addition they are going to release. If they do a Gloss Purple and I don’t have to fight people for it I would definitely buy one. I been watching the LV2 used prices. Always loved the way the Egos shot.

I did play a day with a buddy’s LV2 and really enjoyed it. I just don’t play a ton of electro play anymore to justify it.

I think as we(paintball) gets bigger we will see more "casuals" who just want to play and not have to worry about gear. The experience is what's sells, and its what keeps me going back again and again for the last 20 years... Fewer knuckleheads turn it into a lifestyle/hobby. I've been involved with hiring the last round of Mechanical/Nuclear engineers at work so I've been interviewing and reviewing resumes of people who are 23-ish and under all fall. It blows my mind, even for mechE's, how little hands on experience/interests some of these kids have. Things are shifting.
