Linglestown Paintball is now Outdoor Xtreme

I saw on Facebook this morning that Linglestown is apparently under new management. They're now under the same company as OXCC. The new website is pretty barebones at the moment, but I expect some nice changes to come. They've already announced some nice features like online waivers that need to be completed only once per year and they've also hinted at some new additions like an expanded pro shop, a hyperball and an airball field. It'll be interesting to see how the place shapes up in the years to come.

    Hm. I don't think I like this.

How come? It sounds like they're willing to sink some money into fixing the place up.

Fields are about the last independent businesses we have in paintball, there's nothing I want to buy in a pro shop that they don't already have, and I don't give a rat's a** about more speedball fields.

Plus I assume this means we lose flexibility negotiating our own games/deals with the owner. Not that we've done that much lately.

Finally, as much as I enjoy playing OXCC's fields, the proportion of players with nasty hyper-competitve attitudes is relatively high, and that sort of thing starts and stops with management. In four or five years of playing a couple games annually at OXCC, I've heard things like "GET THE FUCK OFF THE FIELD" screamed at opposing players across the way, far more times at OXCC than all my other haunts combined, across my entire career.

Fair points. I suppose time will tell if the attitudes are isolated to OXCC and if they'll be willing to cater to the locals.

That's pretty much what happened when they bought out the local field near me. They catered to the speed ballers and the attitude at the field killed it for me. I haven't been back there in years no idea if things have changed.

At least if we're hosting a private event there, attitudes should be a moot point since it'll be just us and whoever we invite. The real question will be whether they'll play ball with us on actually hosting it.

I really do not see that being an issue. Brian is a reasonable man and I see no reason he would not allow us to do what we have in the past.

That was my original feeling as well. I'm more optimistic than anything.

Brian Barno is an old school baller.
He is a business man, but I reckon he would work with any of you in hosting events. In my experience he keeps up his fields well.

If anyone has any questions or concerns please reach out to me anytime at brian@oxcc.com. We have many improvements in the works including equipment and more playing fields. Not sure about one comment about we cater to speedball players since we had 9 speedball fields and we converted all but 2 of them to recball fields. I don’t really follow this forum but will try to start so there maybe a delay in my reply’s.

I’m looking forward to it. Linglestown is my home field, so anything you can do to make it better is appreciated.

I always hate to see an independent, small business get bought up. However, it is even more discouraging when they simply have to close. Here is an opportunity for this field to remain in our list of options for gaming. Let's give them a chance, and not prejudge. As for the atmosphere, that will be determined by the quality of the Refs. They are the point men on controlling undesirable behavior. As for our group, we play with ourselves, just fine, without any help from others. I'm sure that will continue to be the case.
