Reporting posts gives instant permaban on reporter?

Might have been an honest mistake, but just checking,
I reported a bot posting some NSFW content in the magfed section and I got immediately perma-banned for like 3-4 minutes, it was pretty much immediately after I reported so this felt automatic,
luckily I got unbanned straight after (hence how I'm able to post this)

Just checking this was just an accidental thing or if this is a site bug, or maybe my report reason flagged something accidental, not sure,

Thank God it was Flounder. I had just banned someone for posting a porn link and thought it was me that screwed up LOL

It didn't take long for the spammers to come back. I just reported another in the mag fed section.

I'm tempted to say that's because currently there's no email verification step in the registration process, but I'm not sure the old forum used to have that either,
