Not authorized to message another user?

Hey I just set up an account here after creeping for years. i want to message a user concerning a post he made. It was a couple months old. I wrote the PM and pressed "send." I'm prompted with a message that says "you are not authorized for this action."

I am guessing it's because my account is new. Typically forums have a spot where they list their mods for these sorts of issues, so that the mods can be messaged directly. I don't see a section for that. Maybe I missed it. Hopefully a mod sees this. Otherwise can someone give me the name of a mod to contact to enable the ability to send PMs ?

Stick around a while and make some posts. I think its 10 days, 10 posts or something. Carps link splains it. You can ask the desired established member to pm you their email address. If they are willing they will send you the email. You can view the pm, but can't reply. Then simply talk via email to do your deal.

Thanks for the reply guys. Given that I'm posting here and am a real user asking specifically about this issue; can that restriction be lifted off my account? I'm hoping to ask someone for input on an issue they posted about here in the past and the issue is in regards to an auction (time sensitive). I don't have 10 days

You do realize that you can comment on the "users" post, right? You don't have to wait or try to get any special requests fulfilled.

If the question is something that isnt giving personal information away. You can type @ then the screen name of the person here. It will leave them a notification that they were tagged by you, giving them a link to this thread.

How about tag your person, and ask the question publicly. Most of this forum has used ebay or sgw quite a bit, and others may have valid points to help you out.

I has no power to open things up for ya otherwise. As Carp said. Its eventually Painthappys call, but im not sure how they even go about circumventing the lock.
