Trouble accessing the forum through VPN

Hello y'all,


Anyone has issue accessing the site through a VPN?
I regularly get a lack of response/timeout when connecting.

Is it a site setting or just something I need to accept going through the VPN?
anyone else having similar issues?

Yup, at times my work VPN gives me fits but then it gives me fits with pretty much any website outside our Intranet.

I can try and help answer. I do it now and then also, but not religiously. Your ISP will actually sell your browsing data. This helps with the buyers - the big data brokers working with Facebook et al, sell you targeted advertising. So not only will a VPN tell your ISP next to nothing, it will also block out the web trackers and advertising.

It can be a pain in the butt on some websites, but overall most are ok.

Painthappy I personally am not a fan of most of the major VPN players as they can be as bad as the gigacorps for metadata storage. I also don't like the idea of my "hidden" traffic being stored by one company. If they suffer a breach you now have all of that traffic exposed right next to your name, address, and CC number.

Not to say this is the case with all VPNs. I use Mullvad on my torrent box, but any of the ones that advertise on Youtube/podcasts I do not trust.

Now I'm far from an expert on this stuff, but this is just what I have been led to believe over the years.

Yeah, not just you. I'm thinking the server has a block on a lot of VPN stuff. I've had the same issue in the past and usually have to turn it off. Not always, but a lot of times. I've never dove into except to assume we have some IP blocks to keep the scammers and bot attacks down.

Now and again I have problems with the form using Nord. I also have problems with using Nord and Netflix

So it will work on VPN, I'm on ProtonVPN right now.... It will work, you just need to find a server IP block that hasn't been locked out due to spamming bots, etc. Most likely if you're VPN is running through Malta or something, it should work.
