    Pictures exceeding forum limits

Not really a bug, but seems like the closest forum to post it in.

Does everyone with an iPhone experience this? Some update at some point in the last year or two of my iPhone started making the pictures exceed forum limits.

Is there a way to change forum to accept these others?
Is there a work around people use without the hassle of IMGUR?
Is there a setting on my phone?

    Thanks!

I assume paintballcity is in the same catagoty as Imgur?

Yeah, the problem is that the photo images are just getting bigger and bigger, which is fine for some shots, but for random uploads to the site, it just sucks up too much data on a hard drive. I'm happy to see about making it more for members though.

I guess I just need to know what the current size settings are.... I have some super secret spy phone, so I don't have an iphone and have no idea of the photo widths.

Do you use the button that has the mountains and sun?

I don’t, but I tried and it’s the same error.

Oh, I bet it's not the upload size. I just looked and it's wide open. It's the format. When you shoot live photos it is in some weird apple format. Not a jpg or jpeg or png... That's the issue. You need to make sure it's in a jpg to upload here. I can try the apple format, but I'm not sure it will show. I suppose we can give it a try.

To change the settings on the iphone you can do this I found:

If you still want to stop using HEIC files on your iPhone, here’s how to do it:
          1. Navigate to your iPhone’s settings, scroll down, and tap Camera.
          2. Tap Formats.
          3. Tap to switch from High Efficiency to Most Compatible.

I'll try and allow you to upload HEIC files. Let's see what happens.

I find it’s stay with 3 photos and choose small. Then start another post

I can get 5 photos per post, using an iPhone. I edit photos so the are not Live Photos. And usually post medium size.

By the looks of it Painthappy already figured out that it’s a format issue versus size issues, but for the sake of more information … this is the error:

”Unable to resize image. Your image of 4284 x 5712 exceeds the width and height resize limits of 4608 x 4608.”

Okay, I'll go through and check everything on the size limits just in case. But bed now, will check tomorrow. So until then

Can you try uploading a screen shot like I did? Using the same mountain and sun button? You should get this screen:

Click the Upload tab, then click Choose File.

Choose the picture you want to use, then click Send to Server.

Okay... Try now. I made a few changes and think I found the issue that was hard coded.

I upload from my phones photo album. I use the Upload Attachments right under the Smilies. The only pics that are too big are the ones where I use the higher Mega Pixel setting. .

                          Success! Painthappy

Now, unfortunately, I’m about to go make another bug thread. 😆
