I'm getting an error (code 500 Internal Server Error) when I try to open Notifications. It's happening on my phone and desktop browser, both. Seems like it's on the server end.

I had this issue and finally after deleting tons of subscriptions and stopping the automated subscription when making a comment it cleaned up that issue.

Yes, somehow the subscriptions tend to toss this error. no one has been able to figure out why or how and when ever I've gone back to vbulletin, I just get told to upgrade. I mean we can, but it's a whole new thing that will cause a ton of changes that I'm not sure I want to undertake when this is running smoothly (for the most part).I am the admin...Comment

Ah. Interesting. Also, I’m sure you’re aware of the site auto-subbing for threads the user never even opened.
Ironically, the notifications I had were for said threads. But anyway, the notifications seem to be working now. Thank you -
the_matrix_guy your auto threads are likely something you did in accident. If you are subbed to the whole section, you will he subsequently subbed to any new threads in that section. Are you sure you haven't subbed to a section? I've been there. -
@BrickHaus
I don't think so. I haven't been getting them lately, but I'm sure I didn't sub by mistake. I remember other people mentioning the same thing

I'm having the issue again. I'm unable to open notifications. I get this:
Looks like there’s a problem with this site
https://www.mcarterbrown.com/private...cation/12653/1 might have a temporary problem or it could have moved.
Error code: 500 Internal Server Error

Just throwing something at the wall here. The Member, Channel, Thread subscriptions or even a post that was liked/unliked may have been removed and/or deleted, at some point. Possibly causing the 500 ISE code. The 96 subscriptions would have been my first thought but, I looked at a member you are subscribed to, and they are at 3400+ subscriptions themselves. ...Y'all are a bunch of subscription addicts! FOMO is real...lol
Edit... Your link auto directs to my own "message center" where it says "Invalid Data", when there. My best thought is a thread posting spam on a channel, your subscribed to, got deleted. Those darn spammer/scammer are a nuisance. Also, double check the "notifications tab" stuff here for GP.

Thank you. It started working again last night. But they were real notifications. I just couldn’t open them either on the desktop or my phone.
Edit: I also never had Automatic "Subscribe when posting" checked.Last edited by the_matrix_guy; 02-27-2026, 10:51 AM.
