P.S.: the system automatically backs up a post and edit history to IRS servers every 87 minutes, but only Daltech's

Yeah, keeping the prices is good for everybody. But you can't really enforce it in a meaningful way. Just encourage folks to leave it in officially.

I am totally fine with it being encouraged to leave the price in the thread going forward. I guess I assumed (whoops) that this would not be retroactive as well, and obviously completely didn't think about enforcement. Mea culpa.

Threads that get deleted after sale don't really bother me, because I don't see them after the fact 🤷♂️

You can always message the seller and ask them what it sold for.

I have a solution that may satisfy everyone

If the forum can be coded to do it, give the option, when editing a thread in the BST section to mark a thread as sold.

This action will do 2 things

1) replace the account on the original post with either an "anonymous" account or an account who's username is "SOLD" . this will protect anyone who is worried about IRS thugs and help users like superman receive much less mail asking if something is actually sold as in both cases the account would not be tied to you.

2) edit the original post to include a giant red "sold" either text or image at the beginning of the thread

This could then preserve the asking price for those of us looking for that information as well as protect anyone worried about the IRS
