I just snagged a handful from the magfeed Facebook group. If you don't find any here might want to try there

I have two 20 rd dye dam mags, and two 10 rd ones that have softer springs installed (from MCS), if you're interested. Will include the NC Star vest they've been living in.

Only one of the short mags has been used, when i tried getting into mag play. But i never got further than some backyard testing.

Mags with the PE follower has a longer follower design so it will enter the breach on empty mag and stop the bolt from cycling so it chuffs on empty. It holds the bolt back.

The PE mags are 20 round continuous. I have never used them but I see a lot of people fumble with them in the staging area. You have to wind them up.

The Dye Dam are 10 flip 10. There follower is round so it will fire on an empty breach. Unless you put the PE follower and spring kit in the Dye mag. Stock Dye mag springs are a lil more stiff especially new for regular paint lots of Unnecessary stack pressure. To load them, you push the follower down and it locks down. Exalt squeegee works great.

You could PE mod the Dye dam mags they are cheeper and sell kits for them. It comes with lighter springs and the PE Style follower. This will operate like the 20 round mag but 10 shots at a time then you will have to flip it and shoot 10 more. It won’t fire on an empty chamber with this mod.

Or you can just swap in the D-Mag springs on Dye mags it’s about $2-$3 a mag. It will fire a shot on an empty Mag with the stock Dam follower.

I could also print you PE style followers if you get me one.

Most mag fed players are going to the 20round Planet Eclipse mags because you get more shots before you have to change a mag and they come pre installed with the nicer followers. I do see people fumble with them in the staging area a lot I think they need to be loaded a specific way. If you open the side cover they turn into a rats nest of twisted spring with the winding rope in the middle of it. 🤷🏻 I don’t have much experience with those but people seem to like them.

This is what I run. Personally I have a hard time playing limited paint so I know flipping the dye mags would annoy me. That's the largest reason I went with the PE mags. The other one is I'm building a dedicated FSR platform so I didn't care for buying the dye mags just to turn around and strip the guts out so they would work better for FSR.

I'm not sure why everyone is so obsessed with blocking the bolt when the mag is empty. I'd rather have it dry fire. I personally don't care for that in the follower

I wouldn't want to load the PE mags on the field, that's why I ended up with 12 of them. At the point I can shoot all 12, I'll be roughly out of air from my 15/45 anyway so I'll be coming off the field either way. May want to consider that in your calculations, do you have enough air to need to reload on the field?

Yes, you have to wind them, no, you don't need a special tool. In the center of the winding knob PE put a hole for an Allen wrench. I can't remember the size but it's the same size as the velocity adjuster on the EMF. So if you can adjust velocity, you also have a mag winder. You can also just use your fingers but it's a bit difficult unless you have really small fingers.

Wind the mag first, make sure the dust cover is closed on top (not absolutely necessary) then unlatch the side and pull it off, put FSR/round ball in, if FSR make sure it's all facing the correct direction. Put side cover back on and you're done.

If you do happen to open up the side without it wound up, yes the spring and follower try to fly out at you. Don't worry they are attached and can't go anywhere. There's 2 ways to get them back in place

        1) wind the mag up which will pull the follower into it's little recess on the top of the mag. The only down side here is you have to make sure the spring is packing in nicely. If it bunches up it makes things much more difficult.

        2) I prefer this way, leave everything unwound, open the dust cover on top and feed the follower into it so it sticks out the top of the mag. Make sure it's facing the correct direction. Lay the spring in the channel, there will likely be a little sticking up on the bottom loop. Then place the side cover over the top first and as you lay it flat, poke the remaining spring into it's groove.

It sounds more complicated than it really is

Never really had issues flipping the mags around on my Dam. I actually prefer it slows me down. Especially at the cost of those things.

I got rid my Dam after shooting $300 in FS at a big game. It was fun and definitely one of the most eliminations I made in a single day of play. I purchased it broken fixed it played a few time with it and sold it. I got a bolt action phantom with a custom rifled barrel I use now to shoot them one at a time. Much more my speed.

I was just pointing out the different mag options. You can buy two 20 round Dye mags for the cost of one Planet Eclipse. And with $3 in springs get them to shoot just as good as the PE mags real world use. $17 a mag (Dye) vs $29 (PE) / $35 (PE Pro)

If I find an another cheap Emek I might grab one of thoes $109 ECS kits and convert it. Three 2-packs of Dye mags DMag springs and you got a full mag fed setup that will perform just as good at 1/4 the price without all the extra stuff I would want to pull off anyway. I actually have an spair emek I could mod but I have to much fun with the phantom. Lots of places don’t let you shoot First Strikes anymore and that’s the only draw for me to play mag fed.

I realize you said it's "not absolutely necessary", but it's actually better/easier to have the dust cover open with the follower pushed in before you wind. This is because you won't be winding against the spring pressure of the dust cover with the dust cover open.

Are you winding with your fingers or something? I use an Allen wrench, I can't tell any difference when winding with the door open or closed, the follower is only about a half inch different location, it's not like that generates a ton of spring pressure or anything

I use a wrench. It's noticeably different on my CF20 mags. I can still wind it, but it's definitely more resistance. Take a look at the gray follower release on the side of the magazine, and you'll see how it interacts with the dust cover (shutter) when closed. The gray follower release moves more freely with the dust cover open. Here's an excerpt from the manual, specifically in #2.

Yeah I've never had any problems. Maybe my followers were not all the way up? Idk. It's never seemed difficult. Not like we are compressing car suspension springs here or anything

Iol yes, because manufactures always know the best ways to use their own products
