    Tipx leaking

Need some help. I picked up a Tipx with a leak and need some help fixing it. When you put the twelve gram in and pull the trigger the CO2 vents out when you let the trigger off. Any idea how I can fix this???

It could be many seals, but I'd wager the 12g face seal takes the brunt of the action in all 12gram applications.

The only way to find out is open up them clamshells.

Is the screw in the CO2 cap adjusted properly for the length of your 12 grams? I always adjusted it so the trigger pull would puncture in the first 1/8 to 1/4 of the trigger pull. This ensured good puncture but also that the cartridge was firmly held
against the seal. One screw is for adjusting. The other just locks the first in place.

If that doesn’t work, get a seal kit from tippmannparts.com and provide any additional info you can as to the location and severity of the leak. Video always helps.

I adjusted the CO2 cap to about what you described so I think the seal kit may be the answer. I will try to get a video up asa soon as I can. Thank you.

If it helps I can do a teardown thread on a TIPX
and show all the bits and pieces. I’m fairly certain I have not done one even though I own several TIPXs.

A video like that would be awesome.

Theeightiesman. I’m a bit old school and use photos. But easy enough to do.

After the 12g is punctured it vents through the regulator but not if you hold down the trigger. Sorry I couldn’t get a video

Are there 2 screws in that area or 1? Older markers had 2 (1 inside the other) which let you adjust when it bleeds excess pressure for safety. There are YouTube videos on how to make that adjustment. People were messing it up though, so they went to a fixed pressure relief with one screw.

There are 2 screws the velocity adj. screw and the regulator screw inside it. Adjustment of the regulator screw does not seem to change it as shown in YouTube vids.

There is a pressure vent inside that adjustment screw. It will vent if the regulator is cranked too high. Depending on what it's chrono'd at, it could be working exactly as intended.

So should I turn the velocity down?

Did you get an o-ring kit yet? Order the top two items linked below, and it should cover all the seals in the marker.

You've got an older regulator. I'd call tippmannparts.com to ensure the linked part below has the newer, fixed pressure relief parts in it. Even the latest manuals still show the adjustable pressure relief; Tippmann never updated the manual. It's a more expensive part, but I don't see the individual bits for sale. Having the fixed pressure relief will take one thing out of the equation.

If you send it to Kore they will likely repair it for free. I've been very fortunate with sending my Tipxs to them in that way

I ordered orings and the newer version of the regulator as suggested above, just waiting for it to come so I can change everything out.

A common problem for me are the o-rings on either end of the transfer tube from the CO2 area to the reg. They seem to shred if you look at them wrong. I will look and see put I had it happen a few times in a row and just bought a 100 pack of them for a few bucks.
