Another Mag project, (almost) completed.

- RF body converted to vertical feed
- ID feedneck, modified slightly to fit
- Capped Classic valve, polished
- RT on-off
- Pot metal frame with double trigger shoe, Lapco grips
- CP ASA, CP reg

I haven't decided on staying twistlock or getting a Doc adapter, and I think this might be a candidate for a SPAR valve, if I'm still on the list.

If you take the small lip off the inside of the neck, at the bottom where it's meant to go over the feedneck stub, it slips right on to a non-Empire spec stub (ie. 7/8" neck stub).

I did it the "cheap-n-easy way" and relocated the holes and sear slot... saw it on Facebook a few years ago and have done it to a few bodies since. I think I did a writeup on here last year.

The body was basically useless - somebody had cut the neck down to run a PF adapter at some point so it was too short for a conventional elbow - so I didn't feel bad about doing it.

Did you do anything to cover the hole and slot?

They're mostly covered by the rail, and the barrel and valve block them from letting anything get into the inner workings, like dirt or paint.

Brazed. The OE method is either brazing or soldering as well, from what I can tell.

I was looking up the CP inline reg and it says the output is 0-500PSI. How do you have your setup?

Classic Mags with a lvl7 setup run around the 400psi mark... if I switch to a lvl10 I'll need a higher output reg.

Is there a reason you decided to cap the A.I.R. and run a CP reg instead? I could be wrong but I "think" I read somewhere that there are recharge issues if you disable the A.I.R.? I could be completely wrong. I've always just used the A.I.R. with my mags and run a gas through grip anyway. I guess I'm just curious if you have experienced any shoot down or other issues from doing this.

Myrkul yes, weight. I wanted a Classic Mag without the heft.

Zero issues with shootdown - I had a similar setup on an electro pneumag I built running a fairly consistent 11-12 bps with no problems, and I've had no problems with this build either.

There is a lot of info out there about why reg caps won't work - I have not had the issues that info says I should.

Nice build Jordan. If you are going to keep it twist lock, woouulf has some really nice nos .685 CP barrels. I picked one up and it is brand new.

Centerfeed bodies need their own specific barrels, the twistlock groove is machined differently. I have modified barrels in the past but will likely go Doc adapter, it's easier.

You'll need a torch, drill, a couple of drill bits, and a file. And maybe an extra body if you mess up. 😉

And done, minus a detent... I bought a knockoff Cocker barrel adapter a few years ago that I've not really used, but it takes Spyder detents and I still have to track one down.

I went with all SS braid line for the authentic OG look. 🙂 I also added the .45 frame from my box of parts, and an old STO barrel. Virtually all the parts are from Canadian members on here, come to think of it...
