Very true, I'd like to keep the pump from fully wrapping around the barrel as it may limit what barrels are usable and prevent line of sight down the barrel for aiming.
Grendel that's not a bad idea. Only concern would be shimming on a marker to marker basis. If there's variance between the markers enough that the parts need to change it make manufacturing/servicing more complex. One nice thing about tying the forward/back stroke limits to the body of the marker is it limits the number of tolerance stack ups that need to be accounted for which helps with ensuring proper sear catching/releasing during the pump process.
I mocked up a Hammer 7 pump on it and it doesn't look bad. I'll post pics later tonight.
