Any time you can move the web of your hand closer to the line of the barrel you get an easier pointing marker. Nothing wrong with a side cocker like a buzzard style.

Very true, I'd like to keep the pump from fully wrapping around the barrel as it may limit what barrels are usable and prevent line of sight down the barrel for aiming.

Grendel that's not a bad idea. Only concern would be shimming on a marker to marker basis. If there's variance between the markers enough that the parts need to change it make manufacturing/servicing more complex. One nice thing about tying the forward/back stroke limits to the body of the marker is it limits the number of tolerance stack ups that need to be accounted for which helps with ensuring proper sear catching/releasing during the pump process.

I mocked up a Hammer 7 pump on it and it doesn't look bad. I'll post pics later tonight.

Try to make undercocking work because its by far cleaner and having to worry about pump rods come loose sucks big time. Plus dust ingress.

It looks like your grip frame setup is going to allow .45 grips to fit correctly (not like a phantom) which is exciting.

Pump handles that wrap partially around the barrel but clearance for 1 inch OD barrels are best, the lowest guide rod should be close to the bottom of the pump handle mostly for looks but I also think it makes it less likely to bind when the top of the handle is levered down into the unsupported part of the pump. I love the CCM EZ handle with the flatish sides that give a lot of side to side grip.

If you integrate that vertical air adapter to the gun, it would be pretty straight forward to make your unibody design "hoseless" to the vertical air adapter, and TBH is one of the best advantages of a unibody design.

Quick mock up with with a hammer 7 style pump. Undercocking with side pump arms. With a smaller sized pump and getting it closer to the barrel it would look pretty good. Also make room to fit a slider trigger and safety in the frame.

More detailed mockup in CAD with side pump arms. Very crude pump on there right now that I would probably shift more toward a CCM EZ style, round bottom with angled sides. To retain the pump guide and potentially the barrel insert as well I added a socket head cap screw to pull the front halves of the body together similar to an SL68 for retaining the barrel. This allowed for the overall height of the frame to shrink by about 0.1" and puts the distance from the centerline of the barrel to the top of the trigger guard slightly less than a Phantom.

The side lever are great, what about extending them a bit to cover the slots when in the forward position?

I think extending them is definitely an option along with some general updates to the pump ergonomics.

Definitely extend them to cover the slots like a lapco.

And if you do have to go with side slots in the final, which I hate, figure out a way to keep the screws from coming loose.

also consider what is going to be your pump stops forward and rear. The guide rod can be the rear pump
stop and the bolt in the barrel can be the forward.

you don’t want the pump slots to be the stops as they’ll get peened up.

Hammer 7 and Empire trracer use small orings on the pump arm screws to keep them from backing out which is what I'd lean too. The intention is to use the slot for stopping forward and rearward travel at the moment. The wall thickness around the bolt is much thicker than some of the older nelsons so peening isn't a huge concern.

How were you going to approach gas through grip on a phantom?

Been done a few times. Tap the underside of the valve and route a hose to the top of the ASA. It's challenging.
