    Building Ions

For some reason over the past ten years no matter how streamline of markers I buy and shoot I always come back to building up off an ion Breech. I decided to go mech on the silver one it’s fun to shoot. The purple one was a virtued electro unfortunately it’s gone somebody on here has it..

Like to see other people’s builds. Thanks!

Its not technically an ion (started out as an eos) but the parts are interchangeable enough that its close enough. The mech ion is also alot of fun to use.

    Also not Technically an Ion....

    My mech epiphany.

    NDZ firing can
    NDZ Donut
    Clippard QEV
    Dye Angel LCD trigger frame
    Modified Ion Rail
Either a Tech T Level 6 bolt or SSC firebolt*

It WAS running at 165 PSI with the Tech T level 6 a smart parts 360 QEV, and a stock donunt, but I've been toying around with it a bit to try and get the pressure as low as possible and changed it to add the Clippard QEV, the NDZ donut, and had SSC lighten the firebolt by removing excess material between the tail "O" Rings.

Bolt ended up weighing 14.3 grams with the tail shaved down, and when combined with the NDZ donut and Clippard QEV, I was able to drop the opperating pressure 25 PSI down to 140 PSI total and still achieve 285 FPS. If you are already sending your bolt to SSC for the dual tail "O" Ring treatment it might be a good idea to ask him to pull out the extra material on the tail while he is there. He charges an additional $3 for this.

The firebolt does unfortunately hate my local 0.675 field paint though, so I'm sending out the Tech T Level 6 to get soft tipped. I'll report back if that helps with the small paint any, but the opperating pressure is definitely going to be higher with the Level 6 then it was with the firebolt.

Built this one for Ratzo ... still need to collect on our trade agreement some day. 😄

My first Automag/Angel/Ion hybrid build... sold it off to fund a project, Rainmaker currently owns it.

My first dual Ion - learned a lot from the process. Tons of fun to use.

The first mech Ion I ever built... TFGPB mech kit, Epiphany frame, Lapco body and feedneck. Sold it to buy an Emek - huge mistake.

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

It's like the one I had on my first Ion back in 06. I think I found it on one of the Facebook pages a while back.

Ion XE, inside a Well MB04 airsoft stock. SSC kit, Superfly bolt, breech opened up for first strike (hand loaded one at a time), added a sight rail and a scope. This thing shoots lazers.

          Found another picture...

Enmey firing can, modified Epiphany body (cut down into a tray), Shocktech bolt, Rainmaker's Phantom SC breech modified to fit properly, female Stabilizer with ring mount, gas thru stock with BE 12gram changer, Freak barrel, QEV, Ed Peterson pump frame.

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. This makes me want to make my rifle a bolt action with a stock class feed and a 12g changer. How do you make it pump? Is it closed bolt?

It's open bolt. The SMAV is located in the frame and a custom trigger installed. Ed Peterson (on Facebook) used to build the frames, and did the last run ever (his words) January of '21, I was lucky enough to get in on the last run.

They’re a cool look and the finish is pretty nice.
They are kind of a pain if you want to build a mech because they don’t have metal in the right place for the mount so you had to drill holes. Also find some thin grips because that frame with stock ion grips feels like a Glock wrapped in hockey tape. Also don’t go super low rise feedneck or it hits the body. Overall though I think it’s a really good looking gun for fairly cheap
            Working...
