So I know several guys who want to try paintball and bring their kids (ages 10-14), but they worry about the horror stories of huge bloody welts. I needed more 50 .cal markers to get them on the field, so I made a .50 cal conversion kit for a sniper.
The bolt extends past where it normally would, and has a drop hole in the top. When the pump handle is forward it slides into the opening of the barrel sealing the drop hole. I also made an insert for the hopper. I also put tiny nubs in the bolt as a ball detent.
I shot about 100 rounds and only had 1 break. Once I sand down the barrel, it should stop the breaks.
I made a second bolt that extends inside a normal .68cal barrel, so from all appearances it looks like .68 cal, but really it is .50 cal, thought that would raise some eyebrows at a actual field with refs though.
