Yup, the OG version.
I really like the Aardvark Tentacle trigger but I don't want to pay $140 for one on Ebay (pesky exchange rate and all that) - so I figured I'd make my own version of it. In brass, of course.
I picked up some 2.5mm brass sheet for another project and had some leftovers, so I soldered two pieces together, traced a stock trigger to get the basic geometry correct, and free-hand drew the "tentacle" portion, which is really just an S-curve.
I spent more time cutting and shaping than I did anything else, but with basically $5 in materials and a few hours of my time, I got this:
I also drilled and tapped the frame for setscrews - I hate having a pin I need to drive in and out every time I want to tweak the trigger or pull the board. I made sure to put a generous taper on the end of the setscrews so they also center the trigger as well as retain it - there's virtually zero side to side play in the trigger now, and it's very smooth.
The only other tweak I thought I might do is to drill some dimples into the trigger to dress it up a bit... haven't decided yet.
