RTR Humpback frame on a Puma?

    Hey MCB.

Long story short, I have an ICD Puma Ive purchased more acessories than the marker itself will ever be worth, but I enjoy the ride.

So long story short. I bought a RTR humpback frame hoping to mod it to fit my ICD Puma.

Now that its arrived Im doubting my ability to get that 90* arc spot on the manual mill. Or I was considering getting it close on the band saw, then sanding it to fit. Either way, I feel cutting tge frame up may be sac- relig. To some

I still really wanna attempt it, but I figured Id bs with you guys bout it in the process. Maybe youll talk me out of it, or into it.

Side note, RTR ( Dan) said he I can return it even though he told me it likely wo t fit. I dont find that mecessary. But very stand up. He also said he may have a run of AR15/ ICD grips made up in the future, so Im considering how long of a wait it would be to buy the correct ones vs modding these.

Id also try the ICD 45 grips, but I just figured this hump back one would fit my hands better.

So what yq think? Hack away? Trade it away? Return? Are RTR paert considered rare to the point I shouldnt cut it?

Sorry for the drive link pics.

I say go for it, sounds like you have access to a mill so just doing slow and methodical work will get you farther than you think.

I think that frame would look great on that gun. Here is my Panther with a phantom grip frame which needed just a slight bit of work to fit right. I really like the way it looks and feels compared to the stock grip.

        Nice!!

Now I gotta go for it knowing itll fit if I make the right cuts.

The only thing stopping me now is RTR. He said he may try modding a frame himself and sending it my way for testing. If he offered me frame swap after the fact. I would want to have an un touched frame in hand to swap.

Well? I took a stab at it. Used the band saw, belt sander, and the manual mill to get it.

I had to use the mill to do the bottom RAD and I screwed it up on one side. Got into the corner thebn turned the wrong axis the wrong direction, so it has a some ugly undercut.

Other side looks good. I think itll work all in all, but thatgap will likely piss me off. Powder coat has a few scratches from me flipping it around. On the saw.

Ill post more pics tonight when I can upload em to wifi.

            Update!!!!!

So I got home last night to notice I had a few measurements off. That being said, I had more material to work with, and my boo boo was fixable!

So today, I brought my puma with to work, and took measurements again, made up a clamp to hold the frame square, then basically took a 7/32 end mill to depth, and cleaned the while face off.

After some sanding, filing, and a small relief inside of the frame, it fits!

I overshot a bit on my measurements leaving a gap. But its solid, and my geometry looks good.

Anyone got a lead on cool wood .45 panels or wraps?

Nice looks clean! Exalt remade/ rebranded the old classic SP style wood grips you might still be able to find them.
