Put the valve in a vise (between pieces of wood, a cut piece of rubber hose or PVC pipe). Push the brass plug down with a pencil until it clears the inlet then stick a toothpick in the inlet hole to hold it down. I use a fat oring pick to dig the clip out from the body then wedge it under to get it out of the groove. It will take a few tries. If the clip is spinning in the groove hold the bottom end with a small flathead screwdriver.

I hold the valve in my hand. Push the brass plug down with my pointer finger. I then work the top end of the clip out with a pick. I roll my finger into the retainer once Im under it to keep it from spinning. Then its a quick swirl of the pick and shes free..

A 98 custom was my main shooter for a while, and I was constantly modding it as a kid.

That clip was first. Which is how I missed the goo on the body shells i guess. I held the valve body in a vise while picking with a variety of pointy things.

It cycles well now. I just have another mod or two i want to try; at least break it one more time.

that valve retainer clip isnt that bad, just use a seal pick and welcome your finger prick.

I mainly want to get the valve train tuned up first, since these are such tippmanns to get apart.

It’s still in a pile of projects. Home projects have come first, and should wrap up soon. I’m on the lookout for parts and I’ve been noodling on the fitup for my idea, but no tangible progress.

How about this, we make a section for it, if it doesn't end up working out, we just transfer it to another? I'll set it up this afternoon.

Edit to explain: New dishwasher (no, not a new wife, she's just been slacking) is going to show up in a few minutes so no time now, but will do it later today
