Hardcore Mag and Cocker guy - super impressed by PE Emek

I really didn't want to like this gun. I wanted to hate it. Frankly, I do find it a bit unsightly, a bit composite and plasticky looking. However, this thing can shoot!

I just got a brand new Emek from ID. I snagged an ID body and fang trigger, POPS kit. So it's a pretty well "built" Emek, which is supposed to be a budget friendly gun. But I can easily outpace my other guns with it and it's very comfortable to shoot as well.

I have a hAir trigger kit in the mail which will make this even faster. Beyond that, I don't think there's much I can do. I just wanted to say that this thing is pretty awesome, even in stock form.

I took a hiatus from the sport for a few years, left back when electros ruled the roost, and I'm happy to see such kickass gear for such reasonable prices floating around.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my feedback here. Well done, Planet Eclipse!

I mean, the Emek/Etha 2 are, fundamentally, just CS2s with 3D-printed bodies and cheaper/no electronics. IMO they're the best value in the sport, no contest. I don't think we've had a similar value proposition since the last couple Proto Matrixes.

Sigh....yeah I love my cockers and mags, but great googly moogly the emek is just fine. It doesnt replace old school hotness, but it is the standard of a new generation.

Don't feel bad, I'm a hardcore mag guy and I, too, finally drank the kool aid and bought an Emek last year. It IS a great shooter, there's just no arguing it. I'm used to using vintage mags that have non-centerfeed bodies, and are all steel and aluminum. The Emek feels literally light as a feather compared to my old mags, and it's faster and easier to snap shoot and maneuver around quickly without fatiguing. However, despite the design improvements, I still use my old markers more than the Emek. The Emek has very little personality, much like most modern electros, it just works really well. Of course, I freely admit I'm biased. If the Emek had a ventilated aluminum body that looked like a Minimag, and said 'AGD' on it I would quickly shut up about it having no personality!

I own a few as loaners and in the event the weather goes way to far south in a mech event i don't want to damage something nice.

            I don't own one, but I would.
PE doesn't have a bad marker in it's current lineup. They are, IMO, the pinnacle of modern marker quality.

Barely been involved in a long time, to the point I needed a rental the last time I went out.
Just a fluke, I guess. Who would have thought I'd have trouble with my homebrew pneumatic-assist pump Spyder or Rainmaker?
Rented an Emek. Pretty darn good for a rental. I'd liken it to a reliability-tuned AR for the gun nerds, or a base Toyota Corolla for the car guys. No real soul or feel to it, but it did what it was made to do, does it exactly as expected, and never complained.

I did not mind the stock construction. Glass-reinforced nylon is extremely durable. But people call it "plastic". I stayed away from 3D printed stuff because the stock body is so much stronger. I recently decided I wanted a more "refined" feel, so have an M170R (with hair45) now. But the EMEK's value is really hard to beat.

To be honest, I haven’t fielded any of my Mags since the Emek came out. Some say that Emeks don’t have any personality, but I would argue that they can now that the aftermarket scene has exploded around these things. It’s not difficult to make one your own and they perform amazingly.

I’m glad I’m not alone. Emeks are a great value and shoot wonderfully. But I don’t care for the looks and lack of soul.

Nostalgia is a hard thing to break. Automags, Autocockers, and STBBs will always be more fun for me.

Somewhat similarly, modern conventional and dual clutch transmissions outperform manuals, but I still drive a manual. It’s just more engaging and fun for me.

I love mags but that said for me once the eNMEy came out it was kind of a move on over mags there's a newer, lighter, faster, easier to maintain gun in the house.

Especially since the eNMEy has a more mag/cocker feel to it than an Emek due to how close the eNMEy puts the feedneck to your trigger finger.

Agreed, Sometimes mags have a weird way about them in that regard. That said I still own a mag pistol which is a ton of fun to use. 13/3K vert mounted 10rd springfeed, the thing is just a blast.

The whole personality thing or lack thereof only goes so far until you're just tearing up the field with one of these new guns. I recently got a CVO which I initially felt was "soulless" and kind of bland until...well until it was shooting people left and right on the field and doing so without breaking a single ball and with great accuracy. After that one day of play and finally having a gun that wasn't something I worked around but rather a tool on the field I was converted. Now in my eye it's the most beautiful gun I own just due to the memory of having such great games with it.

                        So...soulless is relative.

If prices on the emek ever come down to reasonable levels here I’d love to give one a try. But at $400cdn for just the marker I have a hard time considering it. I think it’s really $100 above where I’d consider it as is. For$400 it really should have a on/off Asa and perhaps a better barrel or a marker case.

I really do want one as I love my mags for there simplicity durability and compact design. I also love how modifiable they have become much like the Automag. But the price is just too high. Right now.

The eNMEy pro looks like a better deal by far with a better barrel and on off outa the box and $50 less. But having a Gen one I found I just not a fan of them and decided against that instead opting to build yet another Mag.
