Been using a double edged safety razor since i started shaving and never had the desire to try anything else. Does the job quick and clean and affordable. I do have a little collection of old safety and straight razors but never actually used any of em. Didnt spend any money on them either they just keep falling into my lap.

Used an Electric a couple times it was fast but my skin felt horrible after.

I started to thin out up top so I just committed to the chrome dome. Before that I use to keep it short anyway. Summer time I just use a stick style sunscreen or a hat. It’s actually easier to apply with a clean shave then my natural patchy toilet seat hair style.

I still use cartridge razors but have been using a brush and shaving soap for years. Switched to synthetic badger hair and have been impressed with the performance and longevity. A friend owns the Fairhope Soap Company so I have a good local source for high quality soap.

For the longest time I used a Wahl clipper on my head and face. I would put on the #1 guard and get it all at once. I have never gone full waxed head bald, but close. I quit doing it due to sunburn on the scalp and now am the exact opposite. My hair is one length about halfway down my back.

That one blade works great on the face. But had to go back to a razor when I started shaving my head. It just took to long. I’m half asleep, pre coffee, and over worked I’m in no condition to be playing with knives around my throat lol.

I am a fair skinned and haired redhead. I can get away with shaving one time in just under a week and get by. I cannot grow a full beard and a standard cart razor lasts me months. I was recently gifted a Norelco One Blade and rarely use a razor any more.
I attempted to use one of the "hinge open" type razors that was my grandfathers and much like Chuck, about sliced my face off. Lots of toilet paper patches.

I have been using a Parker Double Edge Safety Razor (66?) my dad bought me decades ago when I first left for the Navy (1984). I use Lather and Wood sandalwood shaving soap with Escali badger hair brush. Oh, and don't forget the Alum block for post shave "cooling". I have not exclusively used it over the years. I used a Remington Electric for a while when I was out to sea on patrol and I have used disposable cartridge type razors on occasion over the years but mostly have used the Parker.

I get no particular joy out of shaving it is just something to be done as quickly as possible with the least amount of discomfort. I actually hate to shave but do so for my wife. Funny thing is I just shaved off my beard last night for my wife and currently clean shaven (baby smooth).

I haven't been brave enough to do a straight I'm still using a DE but all I can say is F carts hard. This way is cheaper and so much better.

I tried it but I cut the hell out of myself. I don’t have the time or patients needed to shave with a straight razor. I need to just get it done and go to work.

started a topic Anyone else shave like a man?

Anyone else shave like a man?

This was a funny thread last time I figured we'd start it again.

I got out of cart razors and into DE shaving about 5 years ago, love all the soaps, aftershaves etc and the far better shave than I've ever gotten with carts.

Anyone else here shave like their father or grandfather used to?
