No need man, gotta get to the understanding that you work to achieve the things you want. Create a side hustle to get there and just make sure to get her something nice here and there for no reason.

As someone said, we have joint accounts for all the house/everyday/grocery stuff, and personal spending accounts with a set amount going in, the same each. I'm the only earner as my wife is a stay at home mum, and it's more than a full time job with three under five.

That said I haven't played for years. I did somehow manage to spend about $500 on disc golf last year though.

            lmao

but to be honest, my paintball addiction, while excessive in amount, is minimal financially. Were talking project spyders here. so $50 and less.
bigger purchases $200 - $500 range, we have to sit down and discuss.
wife, 2 kids, house, and a single income makes it a little difficult at times. but we manage. haven't had to wear brown paper bags yet. lol

Purchases? What purchases? I'm not sure I know what you're talking about...

This was going to be my answer along with "I already had that"

Ex-wife was a total basket case, made purchasing anything difficult. Divorced her and now I buy whatever I want. New gf is really supportive, 2 years runnin.

Clearly this thread is less entertaining because anonymous posts are gone.

To answer the question, I don’t hide it as her hobbies are much more expensive than mine. Instead I just feel guilty spending money on it for her.

i dont hide anything. of course when you spend over a thousand bucks a weekend, and your still the guy in the paddock camping in a tent, with the cheapest car, truck and trailer for miles, she understands.

The only purchases I "hide" are ones made from my Paypal balance. When it shows up on the doorstep I just say I sold something to get the funds.
If I want something more expensive I usually start with a back rub, maybe the feet... "Hey, honey, what can I do to make a purchase?"

We have separate accounts. We split the bills evenly & are free to do whatever we want after that. I don’t ask what she spends her mad money on & she doesn’t ask me. This works much better than when we had a joint account because back then at the very least i had to tell her when i was buying something so she could keep up with it. I never hid anything from her but it always felt like i was asking permission.

I recently complained to my wife after she purchased the whole suite of school photos from those ripoff school photo folks. I made the mistake of asking why we need those when we also go to a pro once a year and my wife has her own fleet of nice cameras.
                          Immediate backfire.
Wife: "I'd be glad to start digging into your purchases for their validity"
                          Me: "I'll shut up now"

Those schools photos are such a racket. It’s digital photography. Shouldn’t cost that much!

Completely. I get that there's labor involved in coming to the school, and that there's a few minutes of touch-up afterwards (they're probably just running a PS script I'd imagine). With that said, $5 to $15 per print is absolutely insane. They're printing money.
