    Amazing things cold can do

This morning I woke to -2 degrees. When I went out and noticed something. Just a chair with ice on the seat, but something was sticking out of it.

Not the first time I've seen this, but the first time I've taken pics.

-22 C°(-7 F°) cracked the windshield on both my cars in the same day.

Mine cracked last weekend, too... right across the bottom. Same reason - stone chip, defrost on full blast, cold snap.

Jordan First time for you, too? I hope Alberta is lenient on the glass for a safety because I still need to do that.

Second time, really... first time was just after I bought the car. I had left the car running to help push a guy who was stuck in a snow pile, got back in the car and when I was on my way to work hit a pothole and -crack-, watched the windshield go.

It was -18 ( F) Monday and (-20) Tuesday. Parts of the state reported even colder temps. This is a screen shot from my GPS location at work.

They have snow in Texas but up here in the Pacific Northwest. Not even rain for a change

That’s wild. I don’t understand how that would form.

Over the years here I've seen about a half dozen all in that same shape as well as others like crystal clusters.

Finally found a good example. Guess they’re called ice spikes.
