    Loaner pump Recommendations

I’m thinking about getting a couple reliable loaner pump guns to loan out to people to play in my backyard. Preferably ones that will run 12 grams. What would yall recommend? Cheap and reliable makes me think something old and Nelson design, or maybe pgp, but stock class may be too niche and fiddly for this group of newbies

    Cheap pump
Sl68 II (cheap, but non standard barrel and need adaptor for standard hopper)
trracer (cheap and easy to find, but you will have rollout unless you use Docmachine sizer or SSC trracer to cocker sizer and find or machine pump handle to a 1" ID hole)

    Semi
Spyder, spyder clone or any STBB
Super cheap easy to find and most of them should run on co2 easily

Does the trracer have a removable barrel so I could use the autococker “electrical tape” detent?

If you want to use 12g I would suggest something Nelson-based for simplicity/efficiency's sake. The Trracer/Maverick/Hammer line would be a good option, just make sure you find a marker that has adjustable velocity or it will turn into a springing headache. If you could find a cheap Phantom or two that would be great, but if you're going for budget backup pumps I think your best bet would be one of the aforementioned Nelsons.

I just realized that if I’m worried about fiddly, 12 grams are worse than 10 round tubes, so I would probably run everything on compressed air…

Wilfortina I would say that would likely be easier. If you have access to HPA it makes things much more streamlined. Be warned that to hit field velocity some markers will need 850+psi on HPA

How many are "a couple," how much do you want to spend, and what kind of non-loaner guns might run with this group?

      Great question!
I’m thinking 2-4 loaners. In our group we have 3 phantoms, a pgp, an old spyder, and possibly a trilogy pump

Oh also spyder pumps might be a good option if I run them on compressed air. Anyone have experience/comparing those to something like a trracer? These loaners would be used for my kids as well as they get bigger. My Minimag setup is pretty large and heavy for my 10 year old

If you have the tools to do the mods a Spyder pump is a great option. They will run HPA without issues and have plenty of aftermarket parts.

You can't go wrong with a Phantom and you can set it up for whatever you want. If you gonna run HPA you can probably find some Azodins KP, KPC, or KP3 on the cheap. I've been running a KP3 for years and it does everything you want it to. The ano tends to be trash, other than that don't adjust the reg under pressure and you're good to go

Moodog runs a small loaner fleet of Nelsons (mostly bushmasters) on 12gs, so we can go play anywhere. It's awesome. He charges a nominal fee for paint and air... I think he'll make back the investment on the fleet in only five or six more years

I bring Phantoms to loan out, because that's what I have. I swap in a RF body for the new guys.

I have a KPC that a newbie would like but it's just doesn't do it for me; I tried it unregged on a 12g and would not recommend that setup! But the guys running them on HPA seem satisfied.

We get a ton of people who want to play but don't want to invest, and they have a great time. Stock class is the best class. Great idea to bolster the pump game.

Any basic sniper with a regulator is going to be not only noob friendly but get you at least 25-30 good shots on a 12 gram plus you can use a small hopper

Second this and then you will not get stuck with a cheap gun loaner after new players either move on our want their own equipment
