had a conversation with a buddy of mine and we have different opinions about how many pairs of shoes a man should own. So how many pairs of shoes do you guys own? just out of curiosity.

Steel toe'd Work boots,
hiking boots,
sneakers,
dress shoes,
heavy warm winter boots for snowmobiling
Heavy warm high boots for snowblowing.

Every has a purpose. When ones worn out I replace it.

I wear one pair for 98% if everything. have a backup of the same in newer condition. Paintball shoes, and some hiking type boots (barely use). All the same brand (Vivobarefoot). So I think a man only needs 2-3 pairs.

I only need 1 pair of shoes I can do everything in.

Bought 3 pairs of that same shoe.

However, I have many pairs of shoes. Too many.

Goodyear Welted shoes are many things to me. Quality shoes that last and are repairable(resole-able). Looks-wise, stand out from everyone wearing sneakers. Able to pass down to children. Collectible(like paintball guns).

I play basketball. I own Jordans for basketball and everyday use.

Soccer cleats for paintball.

One pair 80% of the time. Work boots 19% and i think i have dress shoes somewhere so i will give them 1%

Shit…I have way too many shoes, but they all serve a specific purpose. I used to be a 3 pairs of shoes kinda guy. Sneakers, baseball spikes and sandals for summer

I have a lot of shoes, but I never throw shoes out. I have several pairs of old shoes that I only occasionally wear. I have 3 pairs of Sketchers slip ons that I rotate through. I have an old pair of Sanuk's that I use to walk between my house and my office that I have in the back yard, so not to mess up my good shoes. I have my Sketchers Konzo's for paintball that are waterproof. I have my old Salamons that I used to PB in that I now use to cut grass with. I have several pairs of dress shoes, vans, sandals, and a few pairs of old tennis shoes that sit in the closet pretty much unused. I probably own 20+ pairs of shoes but really wear about 6 pairs.

I have my regular use hiking boots. when they get beat up they cascade down to paintball and dont give a rip use.
I have my regular use everyday shoes. when they get beat up they cascade down to camping shoes and eventually to yard work / wrenching on stuff shoes
I have an extra pair of everyday use shoes. because 2 is 1 and 1 is none

that cycle of moving shoes down the grubbiness scale always ends with whatever getting supplanted at that final role getting thrown away, period, end of story. dont care if it still has any life left in it at that stage, its been surpassed, and they are too gross to donate

I have a pair of dress shoes I have not worn in over a decade, and have owned for more than 2
and I have a really old pair of crocs that everyone in the house uses at times - youngest kid has to go de-poop the yard? she wears those instead of finding hers. taking the trash cans to the curb? those crocs. Someone is going to check the mail - again, those crocs. I dont know why this started but it is a thing

now the rest of the household has a stupid amount of shoes
