People wanted the rights to the name, because cool people knew fatboy pods were the good shit for ages. Its something to build a brand around. I went in on half of a full box of them back when they were not a big deal to get. It doesn't seem like long ago but I guess 15 years ago is a long time.

The dye alpha pods like above are better than the fatboy pods in every dimension. The tube itself is of higher quality material that is less crack prone, the lid is of higher quality material that is less crack prone. The lid tab is protected, just like the fatboy pods were. Just like fatboy pods, there is no separate collar, which is another one of their distinguishing features.
I love fatboy pods. I love the brand. But they don't do anything that a currently available pod doesn't do.
