Higher quality allen wrench sets

It was interesting to see something objective and measurable. The side by side comparison was helpful. It has me thinking about picking up a set of the PB Swiss just for the massive off angle ability of the ball end. The Bondhus seems to be the best bang for the buck. The Tekton results validates why the set or two I have floating around here have never impressed me. I would have liked to see him test some smaller sizes, also curious how the WIHA tools would compare.

Not perfect, but way better than the standard subjective type review.

Get a set of handle Allen wrenches like they use for rc racing…I used to race semi pro nitro rc and I just switched over my tools from that to paintball

Also, just go order like 6 1/8 wrenches, why are you buying all new sets each time?

Heck make it 10, that way when you inevitably lose some you'll have replacements

I brought up the question of "high end" allens with my co-workers, and one asked if the op was just in here getting flamed. I assured him, no they are not. Those Wera L-keys are so pretty!

I've had the same set of Craftsman ball-ends for ~20 yrs. Lost one of the smaller sae sizes once. Completely cleaned out the toolbag a couple years ago, found the rogue allen in the bottom of the bag, just hiding in a folded crease this entire time.

just because you can, does not mean you should.
If the job requires an extension, you should probably be using a hex bit socket.
Using SAE on SAE and Metric on Metric.
Breaking loose and final tighten with short end, ball end for the intermediate portion.

follow those rules and id bet even Pittsburg's will last a lifetime.

I just bought 5 sets of Klein allen wrench sets. I'll find out of I like them, but they seem like decent quality.
Wera ones look really really good, but they sure are expensive?

Same. I've been using the same Craftsman sets (SAE: 946754, Metric: 946755) since 1999.

The red Craftman's SAE set is still in my paintball bag. I have been using that set since the 90s to repair paintball gear at home and in the parking lot. Somewhere in the mid 2000s I bought an additional set of Stanley branded SAE and Metric that I kept around the house and use the Metric set to fix some odd imported paintball gear. I have since ended up having to buy another holder for the Stanley SAE set of wrenches, the holder just did not take the abuse. I do find that the older Craftsman's seem to be better built that the Stanley set.
