Why does anyone even still use Facebook? It's like an internet within an internet, with more arbitrary rules and oversight.

Bro you have no idea, as a moderator of several groups which unfortunately kind of overlapped with some of the product line I have make and have. I have been getting a lot of how do you say potentially paid competitive manufacturers coming into the groups and saying bad things about my customer service and products. Ironically though I save all my messages and usually just disprove them quite rapidly and then they flag me for bullying and I got a gag for 12 hours.

It's coming to the point where basically you need to be an a-hole regardless of trying to save face or not.

I know within this year I will likely stop selling on Facebook entirely unless it's in a group that has members of which I've dealt with before. It's just not worth the headache dealing with new buyers that are beyond sketchy.

Left that crap show 6 months ago. I did a lot of buying and selling on it.I Basically tailored my feed where it was all paintball related. Anything that wasn’t paintball puppies or cool cars was met with a strict Delete policy. I have close friends that would come up to me and ask why I wasn’t friends with them on Facebook. I always tell them the same thing, “it’s ok we are friends in real life, trust me it’s worth more”. It took a good 3 weeks to not subconsciously pick my phone up and open it up. It’s mind numbing garbage that filters every day communication down to just arguing among the same echo chamber of stupidity, people arguing just for the sake of arguing. Social Media has created kids that have zero sense of reality how to deal and communicate with a person face to face. You have kids creating fake profiles to bully themselves because a victim is the highest social structure in today’s society. The information people post on these platforms is mind blowing. The social media algorithm has a literally hacked the human mind with the information we provided it, and it’s nobody’s fault but her own. Turn it off, put the phone down and go outside any talk to people your mental health will be so much for it. Because when it all comes down to brass tacks we all want the same dam thing.

Ya know. I'm not a big fan of the new episodes of Futurama- but that one was brilliant.

I use to keep in touch friends from my childhood and college along with a select few HS friends. I'm at the point of not caring about groups. I do admin a few of them but at the same time I've gone from being active to really only dealing with things if someone reports them. I got sick and tired of giving people the correct info only to be told I'm wrong by some random that knows jack shit about the subject matter.

So now I just basically keep it to my friends and share/post memes or comment on actual news stories but beyond that who gives a crap

I've been off for 4 years now - the rhetoric surrounding the elections in 2016 was enough for me to realize it isn't worth it.

I'm considering rejoining, though, specifically for local paintball groups and to keep in touch with extended family and overseas friends, but you're all making me reconsider.

While this is true, there are many reasons to use FB. I left FB a couple months ago & it’s been for the better. But I really miss some of the owners’ groups who’s only real presence is on FB. The ICDO group in particular. And I plan on buying an Angel this year as well, and I’d bet there’s way more Angel-related activity on FB than on here or on eBay. FB is also the most heavily used form of communication among my teammates. It’s now harder for me to try & figure out stuff for big games.

FB is the devil. But there really are some things that are pretty much only doable or obtainable on FB. I won’t go back to it, but I don’t blame anyone for using it.

Facebook is what you make of it. It isn't forcing you to read or react to most things. The algorithm just tends to show what you look at.

I have whittled mine down to paintball related and such. I find that selling there is easy and generally more $ and less hassle than any website, including here before the crash. No one left feedback here anymore anyway. I found several items that had I relied only on forums the project would never have been finished. Enthusiast groups are VERY helpful in relation to targeted interests.

With that said I have very few personal friends and no family there at all. I have no current intention of signing up for any other(s).

FB is a slippery slope for me. I headed the Northeast pump group for a while, but after using FB to try and generate interest I found I would get a lot of opinions and not a lot of follow-through. I get a better response with word-of-mouth and forums. I see the appeal and value, but it's not for me. When I was in college my university was one of the first in the area to get FB and it was great to find out who was having sex with who. I wish it had remained the platform for peer sex stats rather than what it has become.

College-only was peak Facebook. Practically every little change since they opened it to the general public has been part of a long slow descent into garbage.

And I'm realistic: more users = more $$$ so obviously it was never going to stay that limited

It was a clever launch plan--controlled rollout so as not to overwhelm resources, pique interest by making it "exclusive"--but it was definitely a different product and a totally different atmosphere than what it's become

Oh and I went to a Christian school, so it wasn't about who was banging who, but it was definitely about who was single and who was taken. Nobody did any of that sex stuff unless they were married 😉

This is the only reason I get on FB now. I really wish we would move to some other platform...

I made a fake account Lets say "Ash Hole" (there are 100K+ of them BTW) downloaded the message app then deleted the BookFace account. In the chat you can just change your name so your team know who you are when you replay. I stay up to date on games without the BS with the a dummy account thats deactivated.
