    Cheery Chameleon Walzmas

Welcome to another wonderful Season of Walzmas my fellow MCB-ers. This year I would like to offer up a beautiful little color changing beauty, a Tippmann 98 Chameleon.

I snagged this little gem from a semi-local Craigslist deal, expressly to rebuild her and give her away to that special someone this holiday season. Total rebuild, clean up, lube job, and test firing has this Tippy ready to play. I tossed on a J&J ceramic barrel as well just to add a little extra flare.

So, how do I get this wonderful example of a somewhat rare Tippmann? Simple, follow these rules:

    1) Be a member in good standing (Green not required, but I mean if you aren’t green it’s $10 so come on man…)

    2) State in a post “I’M IN”

    3) Share a time when you went on a quest for a piece of gear. Was it for a killer deal, buy back, hidden gem, or to give someone else that special something.

    4) Wait until Friday December 1st for the selection. I will roll a D20 (or appropriate die for the size of the entrant pool) and based on the order you entered that number will be yours. If you are the number rolled you win.

    Photos won't load but I don't care I'm in

I'm always looking for a good deal but one that stands out, guy contacted me out of the blue asking if I buy gear, I said sure but depends on what it is. He sends me photos

    Empire axe
    Ccm series 5 pump
    Ion

I reply with look, I buy gear but there's no way I have enough on hand right now to buy those off you. I know they are worth more than what I have

He replies with, what about $125?

I said I'll be there in 15 minutes

        "I'M IN"

Went to an estate sale to get my Brass Eagle Rainmaker. My mother calls me out of the blue and says she was on estate sale dot net and saw a listing for paintball equipment. She sends me a picture and sure enough there is an extremely clean gen 2 double trigger Rainmaker in a toat of gear. $80 for the whole lot. We get their just in time as someone had called them and wanted it to be put on hold till they arrived. Well I guess they forgot about him or just didn't give a s*** . He was not happy. I actually knew the guy and he was a dirtbag who didn't pay his debts to friends. That's karma for ya! Also got a Xtreme Vision 280 mask and a blue Viewloader Revolution. I either gave or sold someone on here a Smart Parts gas through asa stock that was also in the toat. .

I own a similar one, but want to participate for fun!

So: 1) I’m already a handsome green colour.

          2) I’m out!

          3) Quest for Gear: my latest pickup was a game of cat and mouse. Guy posted of a large amount and I politely offered my what I considered as being fair. He declined and so a spent several weeks watching it sit. I was going to email and say my offer still stood, but then the guy emails me and asking if I still want it. I counter with $50 less than my offer (I did just buy a Nova N3 after all). Make arrangements to pick the gear up
and it’s just the other side of town only about 15
minutes away. Guy says to take the dirt driveway. That makes things a little more interested. Add to it it it’s dark and heavily raining. Get to the cut-de-sac line with nice houses and there’s a little narrow dirt driveway heading up a small hill in the dark. Follow this learn, narrow driveway for about 300 feet up a small hill
and on a bit of a curse and hit a scatter of cars and a beater house with no turn around. Text the guy I was there and waited who would walk out the door…
Just a kid in his mid-20s renting a cheap house. Kid was friendly and nice and I am totally not writing this from a pit, while applying lotion to my skin….. but the phantom and mask was worth it!

          I’m In !
Years ago I let go of my Montneel stuff when Mags were all the rage. So I moved on and regretted not keep a Mega Z. I had to have another but needed one of their splash optioned ones and finally one showed up on MCB by someone asking questions so a conversation was started in pm’s. He wanted a reliable shooter so we made a deal. Took awhile to get sorted out but now I finally have it up and running.

          “Im in”

At the end of 2021, I was on the hunt for another gargoyle and after a deep Facebook search from days gone by I messaged a random guy who had one posted for sale in 2016. not expecting him to even have it but I was surprised a few days later he got back to me and said “yes” he still had it.

Not only had he never taken it out to the field, I pretty much sh!t when he said he lived in Edmonton (bigger city) and his address was three blocks from my moms!! $1000 cad.

I also ended up buying a 6-pack changer from him too.
Ps if I win I’ll likely be donating it too I just wanted to share one of my other amazing finds

            I'm in.

I'm always looking at stuff, hoping to score a deal. Found a Canadian selling a dragon intimidator, "needing fixing", for $100. I replaced the broken barb from the reg and she was good to go. The dude also through in everything within reach into the box, do there was a pink camo head wrap (that I still wear from time to time), a half used bottle if ketchup (threw that away), and a rotary tool. I was in need of a dremel at the time, so this was a godsend. But...I can't hold onto things when I know I can make money, unfortunately. I resold the dragon for $200 (it was the price at the time). Still kick myself.

I can understand kicking ones self over that. I mean come on, free ketchup and you just threw it out.

Being green is what I excel at, so “I’M IN”.

Late this summer, there was an ad in a Swedish Facebook Group for trading paintball stuff. A gentleman was selling a rather large package deal with an Ego 07 as the main article. The price was fair, but not good enough for me to bite. After a couple of weeks he lowered it quite a bit, so it all of a sudden became a good deal. As a bonus, the guy's workplace was just a mile short of where my mom lives, so I could pick it up on the way to her.

When I picked it up a couple of days later, everything was as decribed in the ad, and well matching the photos. The gentleman in question also informed me that he was happy that I was the one buying his deal, since he had high thoughts about me. I was a bit surprised, since I didn't actually know him, but I have been running (not owning) a paintball field together with a friend, and we got high praise for how we ran it, so I figured he knew me from there.

With that said, he brought up a box that was not included in the ad. Within the original box was a Mantis Ego 05 in mint condition, all original parts included. He asked me if I knew what it was worth, and I gave him a rough estimate, telling him it was a rough estimate. I also informed him that he would get more for it if he was to sell it on any U.S. site, rather than selling it in Sweden although shipping might be a hassle, and I recommended a few sites.

"Would you like it?" he asked me, with the tiniest glint in his eye. Well yes, I said, but I cannot afford what it is worth. "In that case, you can have it as part of the deal", he said, and promptly handed it to me. He added, "Besides, there is a leak by the ASA anyway, but perhaps you can fix it." I expressed my gratitude at this stunning surprise, and we parted our ways.

When I got home and aired the Mantis up, the leak turned out to be the macro fitting... So all in all, a most splendid deal.

            I'M IN

I live in Portland but there was a great deal on a classic timmy and cocker with gear in Port Townsend, WA. I made the epic 4-5hr drive up there, got the gear bag worth of stuff then drove all the way back home after work.

Quest for Gear: Don't really have any epic stories of driving down a dirt road in the rain to a stabbing cabin for gear but I have given away some gear to a new players. I enjoy getting to see joy they get from receiving their new stuff.

before PaintballShop.com had them I really wanted a Sterling, and everyone knows how hard it is to get Arrow Precision to sell you a marker. So I went on a campaign of contacting Arrow Precision and all paintball shops in England to see if they would be willing to sell me a Sterling. After a super long time I was able to buy one from PowerBall in the UK and have them send it to a contact in England to have the contact then mail it to me multiple times until it got through customs. It was worth it!

              I'm in.

A friend of mine has a knack for buying huge pb lots and selling off the valuable stuff on Ebay. He had around 50-60 blowbacks and spyder electro clones collected over a couple years in a few tubs. He sent me pictures and said $200. In one of the photos i saw a gun I've been wanting and made the connection, that the rest could easily be sold for plenty more.
So far I've made over $1000 selling off about half of them :-)

              1) I'm green and I believe I'm in good standing

              2) I'm In

              3) It was Junior year of college, bored out of my mind with no paintball plans in sight! I was scrolling through Craigslist when I saw it. Fitty bucks Ion XE as is ( I've come to learn that "as is" means broken).

My gf was starting to get into paintball and I wanted to solidify her entry into pb with her own equipment. There was just one problem. I didn't (still don't) have alot of money. At Fifty beans the price was right.

I ended up skipping my college responsibilities and driving an hour to a town I didn't know existed to get this gun. It was beautiful...-ly stock. The previous owner slapped a freak barrel with no inserts on it and stuffed it in his closet until he was ready to sell it to me.That is perfectly fine with me.

My journey was just beginning. Every banjo fitting was snapped, there was no power button sticker. Hoses needed replacing. Battery wires vwere snapped off. The previous owner had a ketchup and mustard theme hoing on with a red barrel and a yellow body which wasn't going to fly with her.

So i decided to fix it and make it better. 4 months later my journey finally ended, spending way too much but ending up with something I'm proud to give to my gf.
