so im trying to update my house, i have an older timer (installed and mounted on the wall) that is not user friendly for the outdoor light. With that being said, My wife and i are looking at timers that are easy to use but has to be mounted to the wall of the inside of the house. what are some good recommendations? please help!

I installed something like this in my bathroom for the sealing fan.
We love it, its easy to control and see how much time you're asking for, digital so no "tic-tic" of the older mechanical style ...
PS: I have no affiliation with this or any other electrical equipment (that's why i didn't put a direct link, but you can find them easy enough everywhere ...)
Love my brass ... Love my SSR ... Hard choices ...

I installed this switch to control the lights on the front of my house/ garage. It's wifi enabled and has an app that allows you to set the time or sunrise/sunset you want it to turn on/off. it also works with most smart home hubs so you can just tell the hub to switch it. the switch also operates like a normal light switch. It requires a neutral wire which isn't in every switch box so you would have to check before you get it.
