Well, the lines are all at roughly the same angle going up to the kites because the wind is the same speed and direction for all the kites. Some provide a little more lift than others so there's a little variation in the angle but not a ton

Those kites are also massive, those geckos for example are probably 60 feet long each. There was a full size blue whale at one point and it wasn't even the largest thing in the sky. So there's a lot of space between each line it just doesn't look like it in the photo. Even viewing from the front or side it's a little deceiving but if you were in the middle of all the kites looking up it would be pretty clear

Temperature wasn't bad. It's super moderate on the coast. Night low of 60, day high of 65. Very very consistent. We bundled our girls up because the parking lot was line a half mile away so not really a good option to go back if they got cold. I was mainly in shorts and t shirt or maybe a light sweatshirt

Made a massive score tonight. $66 for a 6.5m power kite from a pretty good brand. New this kite was around $1000. Seller was clearing out a storage unit and the bridle lines were all tangled up. Took me all of an hour to untangle everything.

Down side is it came with handles instead of a bar. I like flying bars. Ironically to get a bar it's probably going to cost double what I paid for the kite. Even still, $200ish is a steal for something like this

That blade kite sucks. Ironically lots of people love them but it feels like I'm just doing a consistent pull up in order to fly it. I'll be selling it at some point.

However, I did have a prism e2 that came to me when a family member on my wife's side passed and we cleaned out his house. I figured maybe I'd sell it for $60 and then thought, no, I'll post at $80 and let someone talk me down to 60. For reference I had this exact kite earlier in life I bought brand new for around $180 if I remember right.

Then I thought wait, I have the owner of the largest kite shop in the world on Facebook and I talk to him regularly. So I shot him photos and asked him what he thought it's worth. He said 150-200, but I should ask the prism groups, posted there and within an hour had an offer for 300+ shipping

        Well that escalated quickly

So, my plan is to get a big ass kite. I'm getting a 13' wide, 44 foot long flo tail delta. I'm super excited about it.

ive wanted that kite for quite a while. i instead bought the 155 foot snake that kitty hawk sells.

it promptly broke my reel, went spinning out of control, ripped up my hand, and bruised my leg because i jumped on the spinning reel with my body in order to regain control.

kite flying can be dangerous guys!

i have since reworked how i plan to fly that kite, but i have not yet had a chance to fly it

mines black and white, its very beetlejuice.

That's a nice kite, I may have to check that out

Yeah I just got an order in from ocean shoes kites.

Sand anchor, and 500# line were the first two things in it

The winder I have is not great but right now I don't plan on ever needing to put the full load on the winder. I plan on walking it down by hand then winding the line in separate

I also have my first line laundry, 2 50ft tails and a 3 foot spin basket

I have to say I am impressed with OSK stuff. The tails are fully hemmed and the spin basket even came with 3 rotating clips

So, I was reading from someone else who has the flotail I'm getting (should be here this week!) and he recommended hemming the ends of the banner tails so they don't frey, then he said if you want to do something really cool sew in a loop to the end of the trails. It will prevent freying and you can then also fly a separate tail off the end.

So, with the addition of the two 50ft tails I got this kite could end up being 95 feet long. I'm really excited about that idea

Also in my order we got a light kit. So we will be doing some night flying as well!
