What are your non-traditional Thanksgiving foods?

Three people in my family are vegetarians so we hunted for a long time to find a replacement for turkey, and I didn’t want some weird pink goo unmeat - most of those are just gross.

A few years ago my wife found a roast cabbage recipe that’s really good. We add this to the big pile of food each year. The gravy is incredible.

Anyone else have non-traditional or unique recipes to share?

I've pushed a Korean sweet potato recipe instead of the gross marshmallow cover glop whenever I'm hosting.

Roast sweet potatoes in in the oven then toss in a soy sauce, garlic, honey, and gochujang mix then back in the oven to tighten up

That sounds awesome. I also hate traditional candied sweet potatoes.

If you try it the recipe is pretty flexible adjust the ratios for salty/sweet/heat. The garlic intend to use a bunch but I like it.

On the carnivore side, over the years we've done a Moose Roast, fire-pit-cooked-for-12-hours Elk roasts, and one glorious year, the traditional Thanksgiving Black-Bear-Sausage Chili with homemade cornbread.

We've also done spaghetti (made extra-traditional one year by using turkey meat, which was pretty good) both fried and grilled halibut, crab legs, and one year, three rabbits.

Yeah, there's been a lot of turkeys and hams, too, but back in the day, my family didn't stand that hard on tradition.

I usually do a seafood boil. This year, Im doing hamburgers with homemade mac and cheese w/hotdogs. There will be a salad at some point.
