Just got this one. Musk was talking about it while discussing AI on Joe Rogan in his latest interview. He has a much more optimistic outlook on AI tec then I do. He recommended this book. Figured I would give it a go.

Chaos was awesome but dark. Very good read I highly recommend it if you are into that sort of stuff. Definitely a scary theory especially with current events going on. The narrative in the book makes way more sense than what the public was being told. Not doubting there was a cover up. The question is more why.

The Life We’re Looking For by Andy Crouch. It’s about building meaningful relationships & community when tech dominates our time.

So far it’s as profound as it is simple in its presentation.

I will have to put that on my list. I currently have a bet with the kids 1 full Year no Tec for $1k each. So far they are on week 11. There are carve outs for school work, educational activities, and family movie nights if they have behaved. So far it’s been the best money I have ever spent. They want to open up a CD and go another year. They are doing amazing in school, my youngest focus and reading has improved dramatically. They are both above grade level in school and are doing kid stuff again. My oldest is really getting into history we have been having some interesting discussions about it. Before it was fortnight skins. Now it’s American history, engineering, sciences, mathematics, and finance. They are killing it in Muay, Thai and Jujutsu. My oldest might start competing next year At the request of the Instructor. What a difference in just 11 weeks.

Been reading Exodus: The Archimedes Engine. It's a chunky book (just shy of 900 pages), and you have to muscle through the first 300 or so pages before the story gets going, but once it does it's some top tier scifi. The funny thing is, one of my coworkers told me about this book several months ago, and despite being very interested I completely forgot about it. Somehow I ended up picking it up on my own. I got like 2 pages in, and was like "........waaaaait a minute....." The book is actually a companion piece to an upcoming video game set in the same universe. The game is being designed by a bunch of the old heads from the Mass Effect team. It was actually a mention to Helium-3, a rare element that's often used in sci-fi for space travel, that tipped me off. It's prevalent in ME and that connection made everything click.

i ordered some osprey books a while back and just started flipping through them. My
buddy Bob picked up a really cool gear lot with an ICS gun bag yesterday. Im flipping through one of the books and BAM! The exact propaganda the Idema Pointman Mascot is based on. Pretty funny!
probably would've missed it if it wasnt fresh on my mind

Our readings included snippets of primary sources on select topics. It was surprisingly light on primary documents. I did scratch the surface of Suetonius' "Lives if the 12 Emperors" for a paper that got cancelled after I wrote it. Sigh.

Just finished up “Bury Me Standing : The Gypsies and Their Journey” it’s a non fiction, told as first hand experiences from someone who traveled all over Eastern Europe in the early 90s interviewing gypsies and gaining their trust. Absolutely wild lifestyle they have, the book is really good.

right before that I read 11/22/63 by Steven King. It was good but not his best.

and before that was Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, mostly because she’s kind of a local hero. It was kind of boring at times but overall good. They got a little fast and loose with the pesticides in the 50’s and 60’s
