If money is no object. Unifi equipment is excellent and you can tie in security cameras all into a single package. All the features of the pi hole and a lot more but it will create a wallet hole.

Right and that's what unifi equipment can do. Actual multi core hardware with sufficient memory to do that kind of work. With cyber security and ad blocking it can still do over 5gbps on their routers. Anything in the light enterprise level is generally vastly superior equipment but it ain't cheap. Nothing wrong with the pi hole if it suites your needs.

About to run down the rabbit hole on getting this on the unifi, and see what gets caught

The first time you need to vpn home you'll be glad you did. We use it traveling abroad all the time to access region restricted content. Also use it near daily to use my workstation remotely. Cameras and door sensors bring it home and just need them to actually release the smoke detectors to round out my install.

I ran a Pi-Hole for a fair number of years before switching to AdGuard Home which does the same sort of thing (DNS Blocking), is a bit easier to maintain, and offers DNS over HTTPS.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the amount of blocked traffic and everything's still seems to be working correctly on my network... mind blowing.

I would say the pihole is doing its job. That was very easy to setup. Thanks for the writeup Painthappy

Nice! It's crazy how much "junk" traffic there is on our networks.
    Working...
