    Sand blasting cabinet build

Well I need a cabinet for so many reasons, it doesnt even make sense for me to not own one at this point. I could have went to Harbor Freight and grabbed one ready to go for $229 + tax, but they arent even in stock.

So here we are again with another DIY project. I had just enough of this subflooring scrap laying around, and a bunch of leftover planks from building a kitchen island. Dont judge me to harshly on the box itself, I kinda changed the plans that I didn't make halfway through. I went from side door to top lid for ease of use. I just need to go to hit the stores for the clear panel, the gloves and clamps to secure them to the rings, a pair of hinges, and a filter for my catch bucket. I'll probably add a light inside as well. Total is about $75 including lights. I'll also be painting it inside and out. And I also have to dig through my scrap pile and find some kind of plate/grate for the bottom so my parts are elevated slightly from the bottom.

So here's my plan for the outlet / reclaim side. Pvc pipe to a bucket with an outlet with a filter. I also plan on adding more ports and more buckets for different types of media later. So I use one, sweep it all down into its port, plug it and open the next port for the new media. I can essentially keep adding buckets and media types as needed. Then later I can filter and reuse old media.

I robbed the crappy coil hose off my old compressor, and got everything plumbed. I probably should have finished painting first, but I can paint around it.

Just about done now. Just needs a gasket around the lid I'll use these $9 gloves for now, but in the future I'll probably upgrade to the $30 gloves for a little more reach inside. I'm just waiting on the lights to come in tomorrow and I'll finish the catch bucket later today.

Keeping with the low cost theme, I am using this leftover paint from my kids bedroom. It almost looks like proper shop equipment now.

It's cool that you had the wood to do that. It is a really nice job you did.

If anyone else is considering it, you go on facebook marketplace and find them for between $50 & $75 barely used - most guys drop on them and realize they don't need it like they thought they would.

All my local listings were 225 and up. Of course now a cheap one will pop up after building this. Either way I have a really big cabinet that should satisfy my needs for a long time.

All done. I added some $6 latches to the lid to really seal it up.
