    FOB panic button

Anyone actually use this button on purpose?

For a reason other than to make someone they know jump?

It can be useful in a crowded parking lot to find your car.

I actually don't know if I can even start my car with a key...

There is a key hidden in the FOB but nowhere to stick it. In the car, anyway.

I believe the key is just so you can open the door. You need to press the start button with your key to get the car to turn on off your battery is dead.

When we had the Camaro, and I was in sight of the car I utilized it to get people to back away. I have no idea what it was about that car that made random people think it was ok to sit on and such.

Random people would sit on your car?! I’ve had people lean on my car for photos, and once at a car show some moron opened my car door. They got yelled at.

          1) Locate your vehicle
          2) Piss off neighbors
          3) Scare people who walk buy
          4) In one rare instance - I am aware of an elderly person who fell and used it to "call for help"

Yeah, if your car is within sight of your bedroom window it can be a poor mans property alarm system. Just keep your key fob on bedside table at night!

Car alarms are one of those things that lost efficacy in ubiquity. I wish they'd either engineer one that's far more difficult to set off or just stop making them.

Beyond causing a sarcastic laugh when a big block or Harley sets them off I hate the damn things. Always have. The sound makes me hope the car is actually getting stolen or savagely vandalized.

Yeah I have a neighbors alarm that went off around 3am two times in one week. I'm listening to it do its thing (luckily its just the HONK kind) but since its the HONK kind and the stock one on my car is also a honk type, I sit there thinking "maybe it is my car, afterall" but its just the same honda accord. Good golley.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates the car alarm. I suppose if one is breaking into a car and the alarm goes off the would-be thief will probably scatter, but the public's immediate assumption is "omg another fing false alarm shut it the hell up" so it seems kinda pointless
