Fun fact: is that doing this does not necessarily void your warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 provides consumers with a lot of rights that manufacturers like to pretend we don't have. Manufacturers can't void your warranty just because you modified something or used an aftermarket part... they have to show how it caused the failure. Of course they may deny it and you may have to sue them... but there's a lot of rights we have in this arena.
