I use electrical tape, but shrink tube if you want it to look a bit nicer.

In fiddling around with a Spyder build recently, I took off the original braided line (unrelated to my reason for originally posting) and it still has the electrical tape I put there around Christmas of 97. It is super crusty and has only survived because I haven’t touched it since 1999, but I thought that was a pretty good run for that batch of tape!
I currently have a length of shrink wrap on order. Hopefully it will adequately protect the expensive anodizing work I had done to this automag.

Heat shrink or Tool Dip. Heat Shrink cheapest, easiest and simplest to reverse. Tool Dip works great but need to make sure you mask off threads and is a PITA to remove once it gets into the braids.
