    Tippmann 68 carbine aluminum?

Does anyone know what grade aluminum the 68 carbine bodies are made of? I know by the time the 98's rolled around the aluminum had too much silicon in it to accept anodizing any more, but I have seen pictures of an anodized Mini-Lite, and it looked awesome! I was just wondering if it would be possible to duplicate that on a 68 Carbine?

    Thanks guys!

I don't know the grade but they're machined from either bar stock or an extrusion as opposed to the 98's crappy cast alloy, should take ano just fine. They were ano'd grey from the factory...

Well then. In that case I shall be disassembling my 68 carbine and throwing the body in with my next project batch.

Looks like the body is extruded and then machined. Should take ano fine.

I shall completely shift all blame for this on to this guy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/23394728461...IAAOSwsspgYjc0

It just looks SO good. Not about to cough up that kind of money for Ben's old gun though. Now if that was Dennis's old Pro-Lite....

          This is not a Pro-lite... its a 68 Carbine
Pro-lite have air trough grip frame and the trigger guard is an air line

          Expensive but nice marker
          And funny powerfeed conversion piece

You could be right....I can confirm that Pro-Lite's can accept carbine grip frames no problem, so they might have just been swapped out. Additionally the VASA looks more like a Mini-Lite then a Carbine's. Honestly only way to tell for sure is to check under that sight rail. Carbines had a plastic sight that retained the linkage arm, Pro-Lite's had an aluminum one. Pro-Lite's had a cut out on the right side of the body exposing the valve, carbines do NOT and I don't see the cut out on the right side (could just be picture quality though), despite seeing plumbing being run into there. Obviously whatever this is has been extensively modified and has that old school cool factor. The seller has confirmed that he has been in contact with Ben who remembers making it, so I doubt he forgot what gun it was....

Edit: Name Plate. Carbines had the name right on the body. Pro-Lites had a name plate. You can see the plate under the sight rail.
