    Spyder Charger and battery info

Have a Spyder Electra I am fixing up to give my nephew. Would like to get a wall charger that actually plugs into the marker to recharge it but they appear to be more difficult to find than I thought. Anyone know of compatible chargers that would work? Really want him to be able to charge without pulling the battery out. Also any advise on a battery or are the 9.6v basically the same? Never really dealt with them before

Man, Ive been tryong to find info since I read your other post.

Okay, If we can confirm the post socket size, you can find an adapter, it jist wont have apyder in the title.

you need a 110v to 9.6v wall charger which is common. Mpst commonly they have a 5.5mm od post and a 2.5mm internal post.

If we can confirm the socket size of the spyder, you can simply look the ac adapter up by specs.

    Ill keep looking for info.

Damn, I had a Spyder with a rocking trigger that I’m pretty sure came with a wall plug adaptor for charging. It’s since been sold so unfortunately can’t help. Would the manual have that info? I might have it kicking around still.

I ordered a "Spyder" charger from (somewhere) and it turned out to be a standard 12V charger with the appropriate connector. It worked fine just so long as you remembered to unplug it after a couple of hours. In my case the charge light would not change status to indicate a full charge, but was with a meter (to find appropriate time).

I'm interested to know this as well

Does the amps number on the charger matter at all?

The amps will just determine how quickly itll be abpe to charge. As long as we can get the specs of the spyder charger we can find a cheap easily sourcable match.

It's funny i assumed there would be tons of them out there and I would be able to pick one up dirt cheap from multiple places. I had no idea they were scarce

They really arent, no one is specifically selling ac adapters as " spyder" adapters, but I promise if we can spec it we can find equivelant chargers readily avialable.

Aside from being pieced together is there any downside to buying a readily available 12v car charger then buying a 110 to 12v wall plug adapter?

Here’s what’s on my old charger. The jack OD is 3.5mm and 12mm long. The ID seems to be 1.5mm. I bought these batteries from ANS https://www.ansgear.com/Tenergy_Valo...96valorkit.htm
Good price and better batteries than the old Spyder ones. Comes with a charger too

I thought charging the Spyder through the frame is what fries the capacitor?

Does it? I had no clue.... I am not a Spyder guy (especially electro) so was not aware of that

It can if you leave it plugged in for periods longer than what's needed for the battery ti charge.

I can see if I have a charger for my piranha. It should be the same or similar specs.

I’d go with the link Knuckle Dragger provided. Take the battery out of the gun when not in use. I’ve seen too many things wrecked by leaky batteries. It’s not if, it’s when.
