Reinstalling Tank Reg and fittings - What thread sealant to use?

I have an old ninja reg here that I am going to rebuild and install the high pressure output springs on.

What do you guys use to on the reg threads into the tank? Reinstalling gauges and fill nipple?

No threadlocker on the tank reg, just use a fresh oring and torque it.

I usually use blue loctite on the fill nipple and gauge.

If you're concerned you can put a drop or two of blue on the tank end, but its not necessary.

If the reg tank threads don't have the bleed slot and kids will be using the tank, I'd add a drop of blue thread locker to the tank reg. You may mar the surface of the reg when you need to remove it. Otherwise, leave the tank threads clean. The gauge and fittings can either have compression seals by design or use less than a drop of blue each.

I don’t put any thread locker on the tank reg just torque it down good. I got this cool tool I snagged for removing and reinstalling them. Before I got the tool I use to use the crook of a tree in my yard. lol

Which company made that tool? Looks like it’ll work on both co2 tanks and HPA regulators.

No thread sealant or tape on the regulator threads or burst discs. Your choice of sealant on the fill nipple and gauge. I prefer teflon tape, it's never not worked on the tapered threads and is easiest to undo if needed.

Not even a "shit load" just a touch past hand tite will suffice. So much thread contact.

Killer. I'm looking at an Immortal Air tank to throw on an old Crossfire reg, the tank on which has expired.

i literally never "torque" them down. just as best as i can with my hands. if i can feel for certain that the bottom of the bonnet hasn't seated against the face of the bottle, i'll grab the channel locks and a rag. never had a single issue.

Torque spec per ASTM, minimum break away torque of 18 ft-lbs and for Ninja regs torque to no greater than 45 ft-lbs. Really should not muck about and do it correctly. Otherwise baby seals will die.
