"good" reg to gut and use as expansion chamber?

Hello MCB,

I'm in need of a small expansion chamber for a project.

I'm looking at getting a reg and gutting it, because I can likely get a gauge port in top (so I don't have to drill & tap a hole on the side).
I have the wgp in mind, but I don't have one on hand, any good options out there?

Another idea was to use 2 or 3 tank spacer/extension but that comes up to the price of a new reg so I'm not sure it's worth it ...

Also, top not thread is a plus ...

This won't work with most regulators because they are designed with a vent hole in the side. But,

Bob long torpedo comes to mind. You might have to shim the piston in place so it won't move, you can't remove it entirely but your can probably lose the spring and definitely the Schrader

Here is a different idea that is exactly what you are looking for though, run a remote line ASA connector into a CP gauge port. You can put a macro fitting on the remote connector so you are running macro into it and the gauge port is intended to go on top of regulators so you can add a gauge. It's basically a small x chamber already here

Most every reg has an overpressure bleed port....I'd stack extenders honestly or go classic gas through grip

you can use any gas through or expansion chamber you want with this. I'm assuming your running Co2 ? What marker are you going to use it with ?

I used an old air America unireg i gutted on my be raptor. It had just Stock internals and it would still chrono pretty consistent above 270fps

Vent holes are easy to plug so I'm not worried about that ...

I thought about stacking tank extender, i like being able to have it on the short side, but it ends up kinda pricey ...

This is going to be for an HPA E-bolt 98 ... They need a bit extra valine just before the valve ...

Easiest way is use a gas-thru grip, instead of gutting a reg to do essentially the same thing.

If you want to have something small, cheap and you are ok plugging a vent hole, the stock WGP reg would be your best bet. Or ANS gen X2 (for this one I dont know if you can just remove the reg seat)

The more I look at it, the more I might cut down a remote line asa and put a tank extender ... That way I can "adjust" it to whatever size I need (might need to clear a drop forward)

They are a little hard to find but here is a CP "stubby" gas through. Figure the vertical asa is roughly the tank extender you will mount the gauge in and here is the end result

I had to drop $50 just on the stubby (it was in line new condition) but the end result was well worth it
