How Do I Feed This Pump?

Picked up this Taso Spartan off the BST. Need to figure out a way to feed this booger.

The feedneck measures .995 OD and .840 ID I tried to use one of the elbows from my right-feed AC, but those obviously won't fit due to them being made for 7/8" feednecks.

So what are my options here? A stick-feed from Paintball DNA, or a 1" elbow and a small hopper?

I dont have any 10-round tubes at the moment, so I dont know if those would just jam into the feedneck and stay put.

My local PB shop has some of the small Tippmann hoppers for like $10 or $11, which would probably work nicely due to the reduced size.

On a side note, any advice on a tank would be greatly appreciated. I am going to run the 12 grams in this, but will also be picking up a dummy 12 gram to run a line to a bottom mount ASA. Not sure if a 13/3000 would be big enough, or if i should splurge a little and get the slightly bigger Ninja 22/3000 tank.

I'd like to run the ASA backwards so the tank runs under the barrel, not out the back. I think the 22/3000 may be too long, but I've never seen one in person before.

You need a elbow like this

I have elbows like that, but all mine are 7/8" one side, 1" other side. I'd need a 1" on both sides.

Thats what I was referring to when I said I would need a 1" elbow and a small hopper.

Also if you are going to run compressed air you will 1. need a high output Regulator 850 psi or 2. re spring it 3. or both..

The 22/3000 Ninja tank i was looking at has an adjustable output from 450-850, thats one reason I was considering that tank.

If you are stick feeding it you can get away with a smaller tank. You can get 17ci tanks. I find them to be the perfect length and work fine even with low cap hoppers even. I ran one for years on my open class Pumps and never felt like I needed more air.

If you are going to run air make sure your tank reg can output at least 850psi if you want to use the same springs you use for 12g like others suggested. Maybe even higher depending on how large that stock barrel bore is.

    BTW that Spartan looks mint!

I have a Ninja 22ci that’s way to long for me I think it still has the air in it from when I purchased it. Let me know if you need one. It’s 13.5” long.

    (17ci is 11.5” long)

Elephant in the room, but you're going to need a dummy 12 g or a different ASA to run any sort of tank

        Thanks for the measurements.

If you draw a line parallel to the barrel, from the front of the bottom of the grip (where the female ASA would be) to the tip of the barrel, I have about 17-1/2". Thats with the 12" barrel thats on it now.

The 22 Ninja sounds like it would still be shorter than the front of the barrel, though a 17 or 13 would obviously be a little better in terms of meat hanging out the front like that.

As for the barrel, I'm considering 3 options.
        1. Get a standard barrel and have it freak bored
        2. Buy a freak 2-piece barrel (this was re-threaded for AC threads)
        3. Find a small bore barrel and just leave it.

I dont think this gun has a detent as far as I can tell, so i think I'm going to have to constantly underbore to prevent roll-outs.

I'm not positive but that looks like a nelson-based marker. You are going to need to find a CA adapter to get rid of the 12 gram changer. Is there an actual grip frame with side panels or is it just a plastic grip that's bolted to the body because if so you'll have no way to mount a bottom line asa.

I had mentioned using a dummy 12 gram to feed air, since this would primarily be fed with 12 gram cartridges. This way I could easily convert to a bottle without taking apart the gun.

The grip is solid plastic, but has molded in inserts in the bottom for an ASA to be bolted on.

The pump handle might not fit over a freak back.

          Barrel option 1

Pump handle is 1.015 ID, and the marker body has an OD of 1.000.

As long as the freak back is smaller than 1.015, I should be okay. But I dont have one to measure to make sure its smaller.

The front and back of the pump might not have the same ID ... Make sure to measure both ...

I have a 22ci Tippmann tank. I'll get measurements for you. The cylinder is almost identical to a 12oz CO2 tank, but the regulator is about an inch longer than a CO2 pin valve. It's not too long, but definitely not as stubby as a 13ci.

Oh, other thing I was considering, was the "Warrior" barrel kit. Probably not as good as a full Freak kit, but it would probably do just what I need for $40.

For these being knock off tech t/python insert kits they work pretty damn great

Just measured the front and back of the forend, both measure 1.015.

I just picked up one of the Ifit Kits off the BST, seller said it measures 1" OD, so it should fit.

Think im gonna pick up one of the Paintball DNA Stick Feeds for this, just to give it a shot.

              That takes me back.

Back in the day, there were two sizes for elbows. I'm assuming that most of the larger elbows were for pumps. Anyways, I bought a BE 45 round hopper and it came with a 1" elbow that I could only use on my vulcan paintball gun.

They did make those 1" elbows and if you search around you can probably find them.

PTP had elbows that have a split bushing in one end; leave the bushing out and it's 1".

GREAT looking Spartan. Very nice. I believe Doc made some Spartan thread Freak backs.

Thanks for the heads up, but this one was re-threaded for AC barrels. The Ifit kit i got is for AC threads.

Will be able to tailor the bore to prevent roll-outs
