repair for cocker body cut too shallow at barrel threads?

I figured with the rest of the crap that came with it, it would end up around a $200 stand jockey, assuming he would come down a bit. And I was bordering on cool with that for a ripper body. Had fingers crossed there was hope for a fix, but that’s why I came here first and started asking questions.

I would:

Get a freak back and epoxy it right onto the body. You can change inserts via the tip. It will make it a bit harder to do front block, but if you rebuild it now that pushes that problem for quite a few years.

Loctite 545 the grub screw, and/or a perm thread locker should seal that up.

I like yer style. Green high-strength Loc Tite and the bitch ain't going anywhere. You'd strip out the grip frame screws before it tore out at the barrel threads should a spill be taken.

Exactly this. I have had things that aren't even the same size or threads seal up with enough loctite and epoxy.

I wouldn’t bother. Let the guy be stuck with it and warn others, unless someone here bought it and is now stuck with a paperweight.

Wow. Screw this guy. Do we have a Wall of Shame for sales threads? This belongs on one.

A wall of shame would be great. My gripe with them is some folks aren’t very detailed with the who’s, what’s and why’s. This thread is an example, how many posts before someone dropped a name and photos? If we get a wall of shame, we need details like pics, names, site it occurred, terms and violations of the trade/sale and locations if possible and use screen shots and archiving tools with links so the perpetrator can’t hide or delete the original listing or eBay purges the listing. Would be nice to have a detailed list of thieves, scammers and junk peddlers.

I think I'd just use the barrel threads as they are. You may be surprised how strong the remaining material actually is once the barrel is fully connected. What I'd worry about is accidentially clipping the thin sections while installing the barrel, or when one isn't installed (image below).

The absolute most concerning thing so far is this statement:

Beyond the damage originally pictured, I also discovered the front grip frame hole had been drilled all the way into the valve chamber. I tried plugging it with a grub screw, but even with that could not get it to seal. There may very likely be additional internal damage, but at that point I was done with this body wasn’t going to waste any more time troubleshooting something I no longer planned on keeping. I'm guessing it would be cheaper and easier to buy a new body or pay someone to mill something similar than to repair that body.

Who knows what other horrors lurk beneath the surface of that body. Seems to me that this was a failed prototype. It may never have intended to be fully functional. If you want to drop $500 on this, I suggest contacting Simon or Ydna and see if that's enough to have them machine something minty fresh for you.

I'd line up a replacement body, strip all the usable parts off of this one, and go all Gallagher all over that body.
