I've found free strands of Teflon tape inside markers on two occasions, but those were in larger interior air passages*. I think it's highly unlikely that most solenoid air passages would allow ingress. I use whatever's convenient. If I already have alcohol out to degrease the threads, I'll use Loctite. If I'm lazy, tape.
*Shocker Sports actually have a steel mesh sleeve lining the main air passage to catch contaminants before they get to the dump chamber and solenoid passages. I've seen bits of it here and there depending on the gun. Never actually had it fry a noid or cause problems, but I figure better safe then sorry. I remember reading in an owners manual way way back that it could happen and would void the warranty (I think it was a bob long gun, but I honestly don't remember.)Comment
