Has anyone figured out a process to bore out non removable barrels, like Palmer strokers, or old style uni-body phantoms so to accept some kind of inserts? It was discussed some time ago (pre-crash).

Nelson's usually can be cut and threaded, or cut the tip and bore from the front ...
The brass Sheridan (Palmer and alike) cannot as they don't have enough materials for an insert.Love my brass ... Love my SSR ... Hard choices ...

I'm working on a couple of ideas for my Hurricane, but anything for brass involves invasive surgery. Like Xemon mentioned, there just isn't enough meat on Sheridan or PPS brass to bore out in a conventional manner.
If you're ok refinishing a Stroker or Typhoon, than what Walz, JeeperCreeper, AnarchicArctic, and many others on here have done to get a Sheridan to take Freak inserts should work fine.
My argument for modifying lies along the lines of having usable equipment is far better than wall hangers.
In interest of updating this post:
I decided in the end to build a new body that accepts PPS components and Freak XL inserts. Was it a lot of work? I suppose.... I'd be willing to do another but you might as well buy a Blazer for what I'd charge to do it.Last edited by Jordan; 01-31-2024, 02:52 PM.

Cunha - the TLDR version is I've done the wedgits thing and I'm done with 'em.
Ultimately, going with deeper wedgits means less utility, for me. Nearly every field I play at is FPO, which I've seen range anywhere from .675 to .687, depending on the field and what paint they're selling. Trying to get wedgits to work within that range is virtually impossible without breaking paint, so I'm left with a marker that may or may not work on any particular day. I might as well leave it at home then on the wall, and I hate having wall hangers.
