OLD Glued Smart Parts All American

Recently decided to pull the trigger on a first gen version for possible modification. I was wondering if any of you old fogeys can remember if the front and back are just glued together, or if they're threaded AND glued. The ZDSPB page has me curious...thanks!

Old Smart parts are glued. Well at least the ones I had were.

Yes, but are the front/backs just plain tubes glued together, or are they threaded AND glued together?

No threads , just glue

I don't recall threads. Like the Dye Boomsticks, glued and not threaded

Any idea what temperature I should get it to defeat the glue? And possibly what kind of glue I'd need to put it back together? 😂

Just glued. nobbie333 pulled one apart bacl in the day to make a custom barrel for an Eagle 68.

I believe it was just a 2 part epoxy.

Glued... I took apart a damaged AA and used the tip on my KP project.

Took some heating to separate - I used a propane torch - and to reassemble I used two-part epoxy.

Some have threads cut into them but they do not thread into the base. It is just to help with holding the epoxy. If you are heating it up go slow. If you heat it to quickly it damages the anodizing.

Wasn't going to be too worried about that. If I used it for my cocker build, it'd be freak bored and re anodized anyway. But if Doc still has some backs available I'll probably lead with that option!
