    restoring scratched up automag bodies

I know the OG grey mag and minimag bodies are stainless. If had to guess they are sandblasted for that matt finish. I have a few older loaners that would look allot fresher with a new sandblasting. anyone ever tried this? I have access to a little freestanding unit at a shop next to mine. anyone know the specifics of the factory process?

I sandblasted mine. I don't know the factory specifications but it won't take much. Low pressure and glass beads would probably be best. I used crushed glass and it etched the body a bit but I needed to remove some of the flaking paint and Teflon coating. I lightly sanded the body with automotive sandpaper and it took away the texturing but left it mostly matte. I masked the threads and the interior of the body which probably isn't strictly necessary but I did it to be safe. It was a Minimag so I also rounded off the interior of the vent holes with some emery cloth. It seems to cut fewer barrel orings now.

Be careful depending on what that media is normally used on. You if there is carbon steel mixed into the media, you can impregnate that into the stainless surface and it'll rust on you.

Apparently I can file a counter notice. I'll do it just for fun to tell them they are idiots to blindly do it. Apparently y'all upset some casino company. I literally couldn't make this up, it is beyond stupid.

Here is the description of the copyright claim:

Fraud is being committed by using the imitation name of our licensed betting and casino company. The contents of the website is owned and operated by 1XCorp N.V. as a License (Curacao license No. 1668/JAZ). I wonder if I can counter sue google and said company for an obvious false claim?

Well that is certainly odd. Maybe a strange marketing move? Get a bunch of people to click on their site now?!

I found this little hand held unit in the depths of my shop and tried it out - worked great! used 90mesh glass sand and it cleaned the mag body right up - looks like new.
