    A-5 egrips... where?!?!

So i have a tooled out a5, with egrip. (Profile picture). I believe its a w.a.s. board (needs tiny screwdriver to switch modes in front of grip). I bought the a5 off ebay originally, and i was shocked it came with the egrip.

a few months ago a battery wire came off the board when i was changing batteries, and i dont have a soldering gun/experience to put it back on. Ive heard if its too hot it can melt the board. Furthermore, both battery wires are held on by some sort of silicon glue originally. I might try to take it to an electronics repair place to get the wire put back on.

HOWEVER, should they fry rhe board, or say they cant do it, etc, WHERE have all the egrips gone?! Everywhere i look, they're not there. Ebay, amazon, etc. You can find response triggers galore, but no one has a5 egrips. Does anyone know where to go to find new or used egrips? Or have they just stopped making them?

First, I've soldered probably 50 capacitors on to spyder boards, I've never fried a board. Don't worry about that.

I'm not 100% on this but I think tippmann stopped all e frames when gi bought them so, 5ish years?

Makes sense though, the e frames never sold as good as the RT. If a player wants an e frame they can sell their marker, use that money and the money they had for the e frame and go get a much nicer whole marker with an e frame.

RT on the other hand, if you like an RT to do one outside of tippmann you are looking at an automag RT as a minimum and those are usually around 450 or higher. They also have some characteristics that not all players like and a large learning curve. So it made more sense to nix the e frames

Tippmann is a shell of what it used to be. They only make a few markers now. They are turning into early 2000s jt

Regarding eFrame repair, I’m sure there are lots of capable hands to help in this community if you decide to stick with it (Tuna, Bearded Works, etc). Electronic repair shops are slowly disappearing due to the cost structure.

Shipping cost will add up though so it’s worth considering if the eGrip is worth repairing.

I want to stick with it, for sure. I have a stock gripframe on it for now, but i would like to get my e grip up and running. Are tuna and greybeard forum members, and in the business of repairs?

I don’t have time right now and haven’t touched an A5 before; otherwise I’d taclkle it for you.

I’d start with BeardedWorks. His profile name is below:

tunaman is on a different forum (automags.org) and specializes in automags.

          good luck!

I can most likely take it on as well if you don't find someone else.

Shoot me some photos of where the soldering needs to happen though, want to make sure my setup will work well with the space available

Here are some pictures. The black wire came out from next to the red one under the glue. It seems like a simple fix but i dont have tools for it

Looks like you just need to resolder the wire. Get that glue out of there too. You can get a cheap soldering iron and some solder and fix it fairly easily.

I've talked with him in pms a bit, I'm not sure my soldering setup is the right call for this fix. My iron has a more broad tip and I don't want to risk screwing it up because of that. Hopefully one of you guys has a better setup than I do for this kind of work.

I can likely fix that up for you if you are too timid. Should only take a minute. But you are more than likely capable if you invest in some tools.

I'll pm you. Me and fine detail work would work out about as well as shrek doing dentistry. I have ogre fingers lol. Plus being i have no solder expertise or tools, i'm willing to play the mail'n'fix game.
