Pretty straight forward, are people still doing this or have we fallen off caring about it with the advent of force feed hoopers as long as you're not getting blow back?
Are we still doing suction timing on cocker?

It probably is a good idea to still set it up with suction as you may need to swap out to an agitated loader. When I time, I don't consider it done unless there is suction.
I still prefer the Revy as it's a smaller profile and lighter vs any of the other choices. The Proto Primo hopper also works surprisinging well. -
yeah I am debating what hopper I will actually run on my new build. With it having the gunfighter and ATTKTX plate in it I feel like the bolt open time may be a little on the short side. plus I have a whole lot of revys and a ricochet in my bag that aren't getting used, but neither them nor the halo are as low as the LTR so we will see.It probably is a good idea to still set it up with suction as you may need to swap out to an agitated loader. The Primo looks cool but ive always ran electronic loaders even on my pumps so idk. Maybe on the pump but just couldn't do it on a semi... granted I could always be crazy and mod a revy motor into a primo.Comment

Someone explain this to me. I've never heard of it

If I remember correctly, you set the cocking point almost on top (but just slightly after) the firing point. If it’s just right you get suction down the feedneck, but if they are too close you get blowback and air up. I put a tissue on the neck and when it’s just right it gets sucked down. No idea if it still matters.Comment

When are you getting suction down the neck? When it fires or when the bolt comes back?

Basically you set the timing so that air is sucked down the feedneck as the breach is opening. the way to test this is to put a tissue over the feedneck and cycle it, when done properly the tissue will literally be sucked into the feed neck (and in some cases pretty notably). The logic was that it would help feed a ball when using agitated hoppers. I am not sure if it really did much for that but it at least prevented any blow back.
In short you got the timing short enough that you opened the breach when the exiting air was actually creating negative pressure in the barrel, but not to short that you were opening it when the barrel was still pressurized. It also keeps your timing very tight to reduce short stroking.Comment

Yeah I have an LTR I got for my mag, kind of going back and forth right now on if I want to run that or go a bit more time period correct for a cocker with a revy or even better a ricochet, especially cause the body I am getting done looks like two stylized lightsabers stuck together so the star wars-esque angles of the ricochet would really fit.
Granted my build is a very modern take on a cocker with a custom body, laz valve, and gun fighter with ATTKTX plate so an LTR probably looks fine, but you know, its gota look as good as it works too haha.Comment

No, I haven't heard of anyone doing this for maybe 10+years now, advancements in loaders made it where you didn't have to anymore, plus I think only 2 or 3 techs could do it and get it right other then that people fought with them to try and get suctionComment
